personally I think this cover is as bad as the Cars one. It makes me wonder who Disney has designing their covers. Seriously. Linguini looking up reminds me of LM looking up as he crosses the finish line on the Cars DVD cover. I’m just hoping that it’s 2-disc.
If you scroll down too december 4 you can see the Pirates of the Caribbean: AWE cover art which doesn’t look as good as the first movie’s cover art. Really, I don’t like the direction Disney is taking.
On the other hand, I do love the cover art for the Pixar shorts collection. It’s simple which Is what works really well. And the little logo of Luxo Jr. on top of the ball is really cool. I hope Disney use that more in Pixar stuff.
Hey, yeah. That is kinda weird… Maybe they did do it on purpose so as to make you strain your brain trying to figure out how to pronounce it. Like you’re trying to find the DVD in Best Buy and you walk up to an employee and say, "Hey. Umm… I’m trying to find this movie called…“Rat…Rata…toot…ee? Rat-a-too-lee? Ah, heck!”
Hmm…The cover’s not bad, but it’s not great either. It just seems a little…re-used and predictable. But, then again, people will instantly recognise the film when they see the cover, so there is an upside to it.
I like the cover,it’s not the best cover I’ve ever seen but it’s pretty cool.
I might put my mad art skillz (8D) to the test and draw my own cover, and then use that once the DVD is released. That way everyone can see my beau-tee-ful artwork whenever they take out the DVD to watch Ratatouille!
My main problem with the cover is the HUGE window taking up the image. I like the nightshot of Paris in the background, but all the wooden cross-sections separating the window panes is distracting, as the entire cover is filled with lines running back and forth and up and down.
I think the cover looks fantastic, though it’s a tad similar to the one for “Meet the Robinsons” in the positioning. But it’s better than the “Cars” one in my opinion.
I’ll pre-order for the lithos, but I’ll probably have to sell the dvd. For some reason disney store only sells full screen, and I can’t stand that format. Maybe I’ll use the full as a present or something. In my world, it’s wide screen or nothing.
And I certainly look forward to the bloopers. Fur rendering is an adventure all by itself and mishaps happen all the time. They can be frustrating, but hilarious. And please please let there be storyboards. It’s the first think I look for in any new dvd.
I’m with Haunt in that I’ll, more than likely, simply pre-order the DVD for the collector’s lithographs alone and present the disc itself to a relative or friend at a later date. Unless you can request the widescreen format, I’m not going to keep a fullscreen disc either…
Haunt - Amen on the widescreen thing. It’s widescreen or the highway for me, too. high-five
Oh, and high-five concerning the matter of storyboards, as well. If they’re not directly accessable from the main screen they may be included on the disc (or one of the discs, if the Ratatouille DVD is a two-disc set) as an easter egg.
Gosh, talking about the DVD already…I haven’t even had a chance to see the film yet! The DVD presales start before we get the film in cinemas! I think the cover has actually grown on me- I think the reason we compared the way Linguini is looking up to the way Lightning is looking up is only because on the web page, both front covers were presented next to each other. If we didn’t have a chance to see tha Cars front cover immediately after the Ratatouille one, it might’ve been more difficult to make the comparison.
