My dad recently sent me a message via e-mail that regards a special screening of the Pixar Animation Studios film, Ratatouille, that is hosted by the Gnome School of Visual Effects and which shall be played in Hollywood on November 15 from 6:00-9:00 PM. There will be a guest speaker at the presentation, the individual in question being a certain Apurvah Shah, an Effects Supervisor at Pixar Animation Studios.
Admission is free of charge, but one must reserve a spot (RSVP) to be sure of holding an admirable seat.

I’m going to do my best to attend the event, as will my dad, the latter of whom shall “escort” me to the premises and will view the presentation with me. This is my second chance to be formally introduced to a Pixar employee, and I shall do my utmost to see that I achieve this goal.
You get to see Ratatouille again, and meet a Pixar employee - must be your idea of heaven. I look forward to your report of the event, for those of us who can’t attend.
Thank you all! I recently – as early as last night, in fact – reserved two seats for my dad and I. Of course, this will mean that I shall have to skip a school day and quite possibly a work evening, but it will be worth it. I plan to have a great time!
rachel - If possible, I’ll take a few pictures with my camera phone. The first hour (6:00-7:00 PM) is “Meet and Greet” hour, so there’s a possiblity that I shall have the promise of shaking hands with Mr. Shah. By the time 7:00 PM rolls in, the show will begin, as will the scratching of my pencil (if I’m allowed to take notes, that is). A full-fledged report here on Pixar Planet shall (hopefully) follow the day after I return from the event (November 16th).
bawpcwpn - If you’re there, please feel free to post up my review of the presentation on your blog when I submit it.
I’m going to do my utmost to submit a more decent and polished report this time around, but even if some lame brains bite my butt for grammar or whatever reason…I’m not gonna let it bother me this time. Let 'em roar.
Update: My apologies for the extended hiatus. The event was most interesting, I must say. I ended up with approxiamately six pages of notes on the subject, even though most of the information gained was technical and went over my head. I shall inquire to type out a lengthy report in due time…
Due to the fact that I became extremely caught up in such important matters as school, homework, and a looming job position, I neglected to type out a full-fledged report on the EFX presentation that was previously mentioned. Taking into account my incompetence, negligence, and the sole fact that it has been approximately three months since the event, I find myself with a handful of technical notes devoid of a proper back story. This is unfortunate, as I sincerely wished to share with you all the privileged experience which I whole-heartedly tasted upon my fingertips. Alas, such is the result of a student who hesitates to immediately display his/her notes and first-hand knowledge of an important subject within a matter of minutes or days.
There is a pleasant side to this situation, thankfully. I still, of course, have that 6+ page agglomeration of notes in my sketchbook that I obtained from the presentation with Mr. Shah. If anyone would like me to display these notes to them, please don’t hesitate to PM me on the matter. Please include the title “Apurva Shah Demonstration” in your PM so as I will know that you wish to take a sip of the acquired hints and tips.
Thank you and my apologies for neglecting to conduct a report on the event.
