Hey guys, don’t be upset that its chances of winning best picture are small. I’ll be happy if they get nominated for at least one thing.

I voted yes it should, but I don’t think it will.

I think that the Best Animated Feature category is both a boon and a curse - it means that many more animated films get honored every year that previously wouldn’t have been, but I think it also pretty much prevents an animated film from being nominated for Best Picture, because “they have their own category.” Technically they can be nominated for both, but I think it’s unlikely.

Well I dont know. That would certainly be nice but I dont think that will happen. Do I think it should win for Best Feature? I’m not sure. I liked it and it was a good movie, but I’m not really that into it.

I think it should lennonluvr. It is arguably the best film of 2007, so why not?

I guess. i’m not saying that would be a bad thing. But if it were up to me, i’d nominate it, but I dont know if I’d pick it as the winner.

Actually, I don’t even want it to win Best Animated Feature. It wasn’t THAT good to me…

I think the “Best Picture” and “Best Director” categories are still out of reach for any animated film, no matter how brilliant it is.
Ratatouile should win both, but that’s just wishful thinking.

However, I do believe Ratatouille can win the following Oscars in addition to BAF:
Best Original Screenplay
Best Cinematography
Best Film Editing
Best Sound Editing
Best Sound Mixing
Best Original Score
Best Original Song

I’m almost positive that it won’t be nominated for Best Picture, but I have to admit, when I first saw it, I was wondering if it would be. It’s such a great movie :smiley:

Hah, but like everyone else is saying, I think it could definately be nominated (if not win) Best Animated, Best Original Song, Best Original Screenplay, etc.

This morning I bought the latest issue of the intenational edition of Variety.I found inside a “for your consideration” promo flyer of Ratatouille. It’s very nice and also contains the recipe for sautéed spinach with garlic confit. Too bad it promotes the pic in only two categories: best original screenplay and best animated picture. Probably Disney marketers are investing in the noms cat. most likely to happen and even to turn into actual awards.
