For those who live in France or read French, I was wondering what the critical response was to Ratatouille in France among the major newspapaers and film critics there. Seems to have done quite well at the box office there, but wondering what the French critics thought of it. Just curious, if anyone here is able to help. Thanks!
On a related topic, does anyone know what the overdub for the French market was for Colette’s line “We hate to be rude, but…we’re French”? I feel like it wouldn’t be kept there.
Ratatouille is, to this day, the movie with the highest reviews of the year in France. On a side note, it is also the most seen movie of 2007 here (with more that 7,5 million viewers).
As for the Colette line : it has been changed a little in the overdub version. It’s something like : “We hate to be rude, but we’ve a lot of work to do”.

One quick question: how was Ratatouille shown in France? Did it have a dual release (dubbed in French for kids and also English subtitled in French for adults) or was it the French dub only?
I also wonder how they would have portrayed the French accent in the dubbed French version… Would the characters have spoken like normal French people? Or just have a slightly amplified accent?
Ratatouille had of course a dual release, like every foreign movie. I saw it two times in English before I went to a French viewing.
And in the dubbed version, there are French actors who speak french for French characters, so I don’t see how and why it should be amplified. They’re talking normally
