The W&G movie didn’t had
THAT much succes at the boxoffice. It cleaned up overseas. But it didn’t do a great job in Northamerica.

Well, it did incredibly well over here, but
that goes without saying. I wasn’t sure how it did worldwide, but I thought that it was generally a respected
film along avid moviegoers.
I know we’ve sort of deviated from the whole
“Ratatouille trailer” conversation here, but before we get back on track,
I have one announcement to make.
For those of you familiar with Oscar Igloo, they have just listed
Cars as the front runner for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, with
Flushed Away a close second. I hope Cars will win (even
though I don’t really know whether Flushed Away is actually better or not, which is
unlikely considering that Pixar’s latest effort was so darned brilliant. Okay, that was a stupid sentence -
Pixar has always been so darned brilliant
)
And as for Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of
the Were-Rabbit…well…it’s #30 in my list of top films (which you can check out by clicking
one of the links in my signature), so I don’t even need to say what I think about it
. As a matter of fact,
Aardman is so far the only animated studio, other than Pixar, with a perfect track record, but I’m only basing
that statement on two films (the other one is Chicken Run), so it’s kind of
premature to say it, I guess. I hope the Dreamworks influence doesn’t get into Aardman all that much… Not that
Dreamworks hasn’t made any good films, but they’re movies are definitely miles worse than those produced by
Aardman, and an infinite number of miles worse than those produced by Pixar.
That’s interesting,
CountSolo, that Cars is being considered the forerunner for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. It seems that
Flushed Away may not be big enough competition!
I hope Cars wins- Pixar deserve it.
