Ratatouille Toys!

I haven’t seen them before.

Heheh. But of course. C’est understable…

Ah. Alright-y then. That’s fine with me.

I suppose that you can place the lithographs just about anywhere, but yes, I’m going to hang them up on my bedroom walls. Gotta spread the love…

As for the water bottles, I’ve never seen those before, either. They are kinda cool lookin’!

Has anyone seen this Ratatouille manga comic based on the movie? link

I think that it’s new, but I’m not sure. This is volume one so I’m guessing that there will be more to follow. Has anyone read it?

Wow, Rachel, nice find! The thought of a Ratatouille manga does make me laugh, though.

Heheh. Yeah. Whenever Remy is happy, he would look like this:

Also, lizardgirl, is there any Ratatouille merchandise in England you can report on?

rachel- Well, there aren’t any Disney stores local to where I live…There was a whole range of books at WHSmith, and when I went to this place called Port Solent, about half an hour’s drive away, we popped into the cinema there (they have the biggest sweets collection ever) and I saw that if you bought some sort of meal deal, you get this book which was something along the lines of, ‘A Guide to Remy’s World’. It looked pretty cool.

I would’ve got the plush at our local cinema, but even with the meal deal it was £6.95! More expensive than the cinema ticket itself. :unamused:

But that is it. I’m not exactly in the best place for finding these sorts of things, since our town’s pretty small, and I haven’t had a chance to look further afield. But even so, the amount of merchandise here is absolutely pathetic. I mean, even in our town, I can find plenty of Cars stuff, but nothing of Ratatouille- not even in the toy shop! I’m goig to London at the beginning of next month, and see if I can find anything of any good there.

rachel - Ahaha! A Ratatouille manga?! That’s hilarious. I’d never heard of it before, so yeah: Nice find.

Welcome to the club. We’re having the same problem here in California. You have to hunt for your treasure… :unamused: (snigger)

But you were talking to rachel. Sorry about that. I didn’t meant to interupt. Heheh…

– Mitch

Mitch- If it was a private conversation, we’d have been PM-ing each other.

You’re right- it is like hidden treasure! It’s as though Disney doesn’t want to make money, although of course, we all know that that isn’t true… :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha! Yeah, that’s true.

Ahaha!! I don’t why, but I cracked up at that…

– Mitch

lizardgirl - Yeah, that “Guide to Remy’s World” book is really neat. It’s very detailed.

What sort of plush toy was for sale at your cinema? Was it a good quality one, or one that looks like it came from a claw game? Well, you should be happy with what they have in London. If you go to a Disney Store, then judging by the UK’s Disney Store Online, you should be happier with what’s there.

lizardgirl and Mitch - Tell me about it. :unamused:

I know exactly how you guys feel. On one hand it is a bit like a treasure hunt, because you have to really look thoroughly for anything Ratatouille, and is fun in that sense because of the “thrill of the chase”.

But it’s annoying when you see all of this Shrek the Third merch, and then Surf’s Up infiltrating the areas that Ratatouille should be sold in. Like, there are more Cars kids’ PJs coming out this year, but no Ratatouille PJs. I thought that it would sell pretty well, but I guess Disney didn’t have much faith in the movie or products to distribute them to all different stores like Target/K-mart/Big W (kind of like Walmart).

And if I, as a Pixar fan, have to go hunting for Ratatouille merch, then the average parent isn’t going to, or wouldn’t be bothered to do the same because it is just too hard. Yet, if the merch was readily available, then it would have been an easier sell. We don’t have Disney Stores down here, so there goes that option, and I’ve heard that there has been a similar problem in the US in regards to hardly any Ratatouille merch being sold outside Disney stores.

I agree, that it’s as if Disney didn’t really want to make money, at least not from the Ratatouille merchandise, because it was too much of a gamble for them.

rachel- It was actually a really nice one- very soft and sort of bean-baggy. I was quite impressed, I must say. But it still was much too expensive; I don’t think I even had enough money on me at the time.

I’m not a big merchandise collector anyway, but even so…It’s nice to have one or two good quality items from such a great film like Ratatouille.

Though you’re right, rachel, it does show that Disney had little faith in Ratatouille doing well.

Yeah, exactly! Once you do find something, you’ll all like, “Ahh! I got one!”, and then you carefully tuck it into your pocket to add to your collection later.

'Tis a shame that the Ratatouille merchandise availabe is so sparse, especially when it comes to them being displayed/advertised overseas. Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia should receive just as much promotional material as us Americans; it’s only fair to the customers/fans.

– Mitch

Hah, there seems to be a magna for just about everything, now…

That made me laugh :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I passed by it at a bookstore, but I know what it is.

That’s called shoplifting, Mitch. ;-p

Well, I wouldn’t say just as much, but enough relative to the population of that country. It also depends on how well they think it would do in a certain country, and with Australia being very similar to America in terms of our film tastes (particularly kids’ films), then we should have gotten at least twice as much, and more of a variety of merch (not just lots of books). Oh well.

Oh, ok. I just want to know what the style of the book is. Maybe I’ll look in Borders next time I go to the city… They have so much manga, anyway.

rachel - Haha…

Oh yes, you’re right; it does depend upon the country in question. Still, it’s a disappointment overall…

– Mitch

So is that book an actual manga or whatever, or just one of those “cine-manga” deals?

If it’s the former, I want it. 2D renditions make me gleeful.

That’s what I wanted to know. I’ll see if I can hunt down the book next time I go to Borders, then I’ll let you know.

Hey, guys.

I just got back from Barnes and Noble and found the manga. It’s not really what I expected. It uses a bunch of screenshots from the movie. I really liked all the screenshots, though. Too bad I can’t find most of them online, they’d made great icons

Cool. Thanks for letting us know. I’ll probably still buy it, simply because it’s a Ratatouille manga. Was it the whole movie in one book, or is going to be a series?
