Ratatouille "Upscale" Merchandise

This seems like a good movie on Dinsey’s part. Merchandising just doesn’t quit with this film does it? Heheh, and items that appeal to the gourmet sensibility in adults. I’m all for that.

Interesting move there. I’m curious to see how well stuff like that will sell. And if it’ll be any good.

My sisters and I were at a D-Store in the Bay Area, and I saw a lot of really nice looking kitchen stuff - there were playdough kits for kids (rolling pins, bowls, cookie cutters) and adorable little chef’s aprons, but I also saw mug sets, coasters, bowls, cheese spreaders (of course!), and apron sets for adults as well… they all had the cutest drawings of Remy and Emile and sayings in French on them… makes me wish I had a kitchen of my own!

Now that is a really smart move. it makes sense to put in cooking stuff because the movie is about a rat who wants to cook. This spreads out the age range of merchandise now.

I can see how Ratatouille could’ve been very difficult to merchandise if they hadn’t got the right angle on it, but with making stuff that has a bit of novelty and is a bit more up-market compared to the usual film merchandise, the Ratatouille merchandise has a much better chance of doing well.

Gee whiz. It never ceases to amaze me how far Disney will push it to advertise a specific product and/or film. In this case, however, I can make an exception. It seems like a very clever and witty idea in advertising Ratatouille-related merchandise that appeals not only to kids, but to adults as well. Not bad…

Any decision that results in more Ratatouille merchandise to be sold/made available is

a good decision. =) I would love to see pics of the cookware. Ratatouille cookie cutters are cute, I would

totally buy them. Get some kids involved in Ratatouille-related activites.

Also, when I heard that

there was a going to be a lot less merchandise for Ratatouille (when compared to Cars) I was a bit worried, but

now I’m not. There is more than I afford. Now that I think about it, the less merch. there is, the happier my

wallet will be!

The merchandise for Ratatouille is a lot more creative/cute/unique than for Cars and past

movies. They seemed to have thought outiside the box this time 'round, so I hope they make good sales.

Disney/Pixar Press should write a cook book for kids with Remy on the cover and lots of Disney/Pixar character themed recipes in it.

Speaking of merchandise , who else has bought a plush Remy at the Disney Store ? I have already…he’s got a chef hat and a little spoon.

PixarPixie - Heheh. I bought a small Emile plushie for my sister on her birthday. It’s quite adorable.

Aww, that was a very sweet and nice thing you did for your sis mitch. I bet she wil love it. Tell her I wish her a happy birthday.

Mitch - I second what TSS said, happy birthday to your sister!

Hehe, do you think she’ll give something like that for your b-day? Like a Remy plushie? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah tell her I said happy Birhtday!

Haha – thanks, guys! Her birthday was on July 5th. I’ll giver her a “happy birthday” message from you guys.

Maggie - She better! I already found a bar of white chocolate that she intended to give me for my birthday. Perhaps I should look harder and see if I can find any Remy plushies… :stuck_out_tongue: (snigger)

And now, we must get back on-topic.

I found the biggest plushie of emile ever in my Disney store. :unamused: Okay, so it isn’t that huge, but it is very nice. I should give it to someone who likes cute animals.

You have about $100 lying around? :stuck_out_tongue:

~~=oP

$100 dollars? Okay, good news and bad news. Good news is yes, I do have that amount. Bad news is I am going to throw a fit because it is so darn expensive. Come on, it is just a cute doll for crying out louad!

$100 dollars for one doll? Man, that is way too much in my opinion. I feel you’re pain, TSS . Heck, I’ve got $140 dollars in my wallet right now, but I wouldn’t give it up just for that. In fact, I should say I had $140 dollars because my mother took it out and used it for groceries.
