although what your saying may be true, the sneak peaks will help Ratatouille have stronger legs throughout its run. And we will continue to see money flowing in for Disney till late Nov, early Dec considering it doesn’t come out till Nov in Poland.
Word of mouth is extremely powerful and considering all the rave reviews going around on the internet, I think a lot of families will be going to see this, and it has a slight advantage over Harry Potter (it’s direct competitor I think), in that people already know what a great film it is. Although HP/Shrek 3/The Simpsons movie everyone knows about, people already have/had preconceptions on what the film was like before they saw it - so if the last one wasn’t as good they might not see the film in cinema. Whereas Ratatouille, as I just mentioned, people know how good it is and they are going to recommend it to others to go and view.
I think it’s way to early to be getting anxious about Ratatouille’s B.O. performance. And plus, B.O. means absolutely nothing, except to Disney and it’s shareholders. The critics all love the film (minus those silly few). Cream of the Crop is still 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and that is very rare. I can definitley see Brad Bird taking home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if it got nominated for Best Picture, I mean I am aiming high, but wouldn’t be something special.
Well, I think the only numbers that should count is opening week. How did it do on it’s opening week? Because if you add the sneak preview with the opening day, should you get a good number?
