I just realized, Jeff Garlin says he’s the only “animated character” in WALL-E so what will happen to John Ratzenberger in the movie? I would hate to see him depart, the tradition would be ruined. Maybe he’ll be one of the [spoil]non-animated characters[/spoil]. Speculation, please…
Not true, Andrew Stanton stated there will be non-animated characters in WALL-E at Comic-Con. And the “blobs” are considered humans, so it’s too soon to say there wont be other humans because we dont even know how many characters there are (we know 5 so far). So there’s lots of space for speculation. the question is: “What will Ratzenberger’s role be?”
But he never said in what form the live-action characters would appear. I know this has been mentioned on this forum before, but there was a Jim Hill article a few months back that gives a very likely explanation of what these non-animated characters are, and no, they are not actual characters in the movie. This is kind of spoiler-ish at this point, but if you really want to know, read on: [spoil]Wall-E finds an old VHS copy of “Hello, Dolly” and he watches it during the movie.[/spoil]
I really doubt that any live-action characters will appear other than that (I certainly hope not), and I’m sure that Jeff Garlin will not be the only animated speaking character in the film. Ratzenberger will be in the film, either as a “blob” or some other yet-to-be-announced character. Remember that we still know very little about this movie…
He may lie just to get a few people noticing him and think he’s important we shouldn’t listen to what other people say and wait till pixar announces it.
I’m guessing it’s the moviehole.net article you got this from, right? Unfortunately, they deleted the bit about Wall-E “at the request of Pixar” and I never got a chance to read it. But without reading the article for myself, well, logically, that just doesn’t make sense. There’s supposed to be all these human characters, but only one speaks in the entire movie?
No one happens to have a copy of the article, do they? Because without reading for myself, it sounds like a miscommunication.
Well I certainly hope he has some kind of acting role. I would hate to see that go. Or maybe he’ll make a real appearance, as opposed to saying something. Either way, I hope he’s involved somehow.
Just a little tibdit from the official gala presentation of Ratatouille DVD and Blu Ray: John Ratzenberger promises he’ll have a voice acting role in the movie , though he hasn’t recorded anything yet.
I don’t believe in good luck charms, but it’s nice when little traditions like these are preserved. I certainly hope and pray that the movie will be as great - if not even greater- than John Lasseter claims it to be (judging by all of Pixar’s past films, I’d say this claim is quite reliable )
I think he said he’d be the only animated human character to speak. Maybe these ‘blobs’ aren’t considered humans and don’t count. Then again, it could just be a mistake on the article’s and site’s behalf.
