Hello, this is my first post (and thread!) here and since my favourite movies of all time are the Toy Story’s I thought I’d make a thread about the best part of the first two- the characters. These are the characters that are so far returning/being introduced.
Woody- Obvious, no?
Buzz- Like he wouldn’t return…
Jessie- Yep.
Mr. Potato Head- Yep.
Rex- Thank God. He’s my favourite.
Hamm- John Ratzenburger’s less subtle Pixar role.
Mrs Potato Head- Promised more screentime!
Slinky- Appears on Offical Pixar shirt.
Barby- Tour guide or regular?
Ken- Voiced by Batman!
Troll- Uh… on Pixar t-shirt. Not much to say.
Bo Peep- On Annie Potts Wikipedia page.
Also Ned Beatty will have a role.

Slinky Dog was voiced by Jim Varney, who sadly passed away shortly after Toy Story 2 was released. Varney is better known for his character Ernest P. Worrell.
Man, what’s with Pixar stars passing away gradually one by one?! If I didn’t know any better, I’d say there’s a curse going around this movie as well.

Let’s see… I’m definitely hoping for Jessie’s return (unless Joan Cusack has to ‘go’ as well; not necessary through her death) [choi!]. Hopefully, Buzz will have more to shine since Woody took the spotlight for the last one. Hopefully, both. Then, of course, the entire gang. Gotto love every one of them.
However, since this might possibly be the last movie, I don’t think new characters will have very much screentime, even if they do in 3, but that’s another story.

It would be nice if they added a few characters from Star Command. They could either make a brief cameo appearance or be actual characters in the movie.
Weird that I never commented on this before! That seems to be a pretty straightforward list, although I’m surprised that Bullseye and especially the Green Army Men may not be there.
Thing is, to follow smoothly on from Toy Story 2, at least some reference has to be made about the other characters of the Roundup Gang (aside from Stinky Pete, of course, though wouldn’t it be funny if he made an appearence, all decorated and covered with drawings?) The same applies to Wheezy and the army men- they can’t just disappear randomly, so hopefully they’ll make appearences as well. I’d also love to see some of the other minor characters too, like Mr. Spell and the little Russian dolls and that strange strong man toy.

As Everyones said… There exists within Toy Story a plexus (not sure if the words being used in the right context) of Characters… With Toy Story the disappearence of these characters would cause What I believe to be gaps in story… and in what made the first two so good… that every child was catered for on that big screen… from Hot Wheels… To Barbie (Eventually) even my Parents were catered for (Etch … Made an appearance in my house that christmas… and it wasn’t bought for me or my brother)
I have my favorites… and if particular characters are to return… unless it is unfeasible… original voices… Including Stanton.
I can’t see a way back for Wheezy though… as both Acting Voice (Joe Ranft) and Singing voice (Robert Goulet) have left us… unless he gets a new squeaker… again.
I beg to differ. Scrapping the army men is like removing tradition from culture. In both movies, they’ve had at least some part (well, TS2, so they have a minor part in finding Woody’s hat, but they still chucked them in and that’s a TS tradition) and they would come in handy in a preschool scenario.
I’m keeping an eye out for Mr. Spell… I think I laughed too loud when Woody said the relating jokes about Mr. Spell’s conferences (currently chuckling away)… those jokes never get old or lame.
Captain Pan - I second that. Well said. Bravo. What Pixar can do so great is their approach to their market - the family market - and making sure that all sectors of the market are catered for. They haven’t faulted once in that, and I doubt they will for TS3.
