I have something that will hopefully shut all the Cars haters up.
Cars got a 74%-75% on Rotten tomatoes right,so just because of that Cars is Pixar’s “weakest” or “worst” film ?Not really,It’s not really a fair comparson because look at what I came up with…
I have a list of all Pixar films a how many reviews they got in all…
Toy Story=73 reviews(All positive)100%
Toy Story 2=149 reviews(All positive)100%
A Bugs Life=81 reviews(7 were rotten)91%
Monster’s Inc=165 reviews(8 were rotten)95%
Finding Nemo=198 reviews(3 were rotten)98%
The Incredibles =230 reviews(7 were rotten)97% Cars=192 reviews(50 were rotten,Stupid !!!)74%
Ratatouille=212 revews(8 were rotten)96%
WALL-E=216 reviews(9 were rotten)97%
Up=259 reviews(5 were rotten)98%
Toy Story 3=235 reviews(3 were rotten)99%
Now,before you say “Ooooh look how many bad reviews Cars got!” here’s something you should consider,All of the Pixar films did not get the same amount of reviewers in total. Therefore it’s not credible to call Cars Pixar’s “weakest” or “worst” movie, because if you ask every reviewer around the world to review every Pixar film then it would be credible, because you would be able to compare the Pixar films equally. The point being is that everything is really all subjective. Some may think Cars is Pixar’s weakest but it’s all an opinion,NOT fact…And too I think it’s a case of jumping on the bandwagon,or doing the “cool” thing by bashing Cars or calling it Pixar’s weakest or worst…which just goes to show how much of indivuality and personality people DON’T have .It’s sad really…
Well if you look at the number of reviews for Bug’s Life, it’s a fair amount less than the others (save for the original Toy Story), so it’s easy to see why it was rated so high.
As for Cars, I’m not the biggest fan of it, but I know a lot of people love the movie. So I have this to offer as an explanation for all those rotten reviews: All of the recent Pixar movies before it were deemed fantastic, and for many critics they kept getting better and better as they went on. They expected Cars to continue that rise, and when it didn’t meet those high expectations a lot of critics ended up just not liking it, and gave it negative reviews. It wasn’t necessarily bashed for being a bad movie, but rather as something they didn’t expect.
I thought this Cars Fans vs Haters stuff ended when the movie wasn’t playing in cinemas amymore.
Also, I think telling others to shut up about a movie they dislike is a bit immature. Everyone is able to have their own opinion. Just because you like something someone else doesn’t like doesn’t make fans higher or lower than those who dislike the movie.
Edit: Just letting you know, I’m one of the biggest Cars fans on this site. I appreciate your post defending Cars, but come on. It’s over. The sequel comes out next year and maybe more people will like it.
Edit: By “it’s over” I don’t mean stop liking Cars because I sure didn’t stop, I just meant this whole debate between fans vs haters is over.
Edit: You also went against your own post. At the end you said:
Someone having a different opinion than yours is individual and obviously has a different personality.
Edit: Honestly, there was room in Cars for better stuff. It was very good, but no movie is perfect. I know I probably don’t sound like the biggest Cars fan by saying that, but just because I love something doesn’t mean I’m going to sugar coat my opinions. What most of the Cars fans here need to realize is by being a fan of something, you accept another’s opinion and accept that the thing you are a fan of really isn’t perfect. I went through that “Cars is the best and you’re stupid because you don’t like it. The movie is perfect.” phase. But over time you realize that there is no such thing as perfect and everyone liking the same thing and no one disliking it at all, is boring.
No,go on Inmb.com and see.I wasn’t telling anyone to shut up,I realise not everyone likes the movie.I have a friend in Arizona who doesen’t like Cars, wer’e still friends…
The same can be said for those who still bash the movie,I was on Youtube and some jerk was getting mad at me for defending some other guy he was making fun of because he said something positive about the movie. Not to mention he had a bad vibe…so you saying “comeon give it a rest it’s over”,that can be said for the Cars haters too…I just found something intresting and I wanted to share it,and explain why It’s not fair to judge something by what a unfairly biasd movie site says, because a lot of people use that to bash Cars, and any movie in general. And I’m not sugar coating anything with Cars,in fact theres a lot of things that could 've been bette.Lightning and Sally’s romance, the length of the movie and so on …But along with that you take it for what it’s worth…And that’s what most people fail to realise…Sorry if I came off the wrong way …
Usually I find that the average review scores are more accurate than the Tomatometer. A reviewer who thinks a movie is just okay will probably still have their review rounded to “fresh”, so the score is a better estimation. (This isn’t meant to bash your argument, I’m just throwing it onto the table)
Toy Story: 9/10
A Bug’s Life: 7.9/10
Toy Story 2: 8.6/10
Monsters, Inc: 7.9/10
Finding Nemo: 8.5/10
The Incredibles: 8.3/10
Cars: 6.9/10
Ratatouille: 8.4/10
WALL-E: 8.4/10
Up: 8.6/10
Toy Story 3: 8.8/10
As for my opinion on Car’s Tomatometer, I don’t think it deserves to be THAT low.
Oh I must’ve not sent it I’m sending it again…And that’s ok…
Bryko- You’re right it dosen’t…
EDIT- Please don’t double post within 12 hours, and please don’t quote whole posts when it isn’t necessary. Just quoting a line or two from a long post is fine. Thanks!
I hadn’t noticed many Cars haters on the forums at the moment, so I’m not entirely sure who your post is directed to. Either way, you’ve got a good point in a way, as it isn’t completely fair due to the differences in the numbers of reviews. But even taking this into consideration, Cars doesn’t do very well on Rotten Tomatoes. Bryko is right, looking at the average review scores is a much more accurate way of interpreting the results, and on that Cars got almost seven out of ten, which seems pretty fair to me.
Anyway, does it matter what other people think about Cars? The important thing is that it’s a film that you love and enjoy, CarsLuver, and I’m sure that wouldn’t change no matter how low or high its score on Rotten Tomatoes is.
