The LA Times is reporting that Roy E. Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney, has passed away at his home after a battle with stomach cancer. He was 79.
Aww, this is terrible news. He was the last Disney who actually wanted to help his uncle Walt’s company. He died 43 years and one day after Walt! Wow. This is just really hard for me to take in…
RIP, Roy E. Disney …
This is quite a shock. Actually, I thought he was even older than that.
Such a sad day. He lead a revival of Disney animation, and made sure Disney stayed the company he wanted it to be - just like Walt. Who knows if we would’ve seen movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King without him steering Disney on the right track.
RIP, Roy E. Disney
Roy Disney, how you led Disney for so many years on magical discoveries of how well they can accomplish making miraculous Classics in Disney live on was incredible, and not to be forgotten. Thanks for all this, it was just not possible without your wonderful contribution to help your uncle’s legendary achievement live on. I, as well as thousands of Disney fans, will remember you even though I have never gotten the oppurtunity to meet you in person. May God bless you, you special guy, you hero to Walt’s abundant imagination… rest in peace.
Seriously, guys, this is a huge loss…this is probably the longest I wrote for someone who I have not met’s death. He was really important to the Disney world and team.
On the bright side, I hope he and Walt are having fun, interesting, imaginative conversations in heaven right now. May they be blessed for so much they’ve given and inspired for the children in all of us.
Wow, I didn’t know he was ill. Quite a shock to me.
RIP, Roy E. Disney.
Sadness. RIP, Roy Disney.
The last of the legend has left this land. RIP, Mr. Roy.
Very, very sad news. He did so much to put Disney back on the right track, and the animation industry owes a lot to him. I’m sad to hear that he died because of cancer, but at least he’s in peace now.
R.I.P Mr. Disney. Thanks for all that you’ve done for the company!
Well, someone like him surely went to Heaven, and that’s all that really concerns me. See you in the afterlife, Roy.
I was so sad when I heard this … they had the flag atop City Hall at the Magic Kingdom at half-mast for a while after his death.
