Same toys in different movies?

We’ve seen Lotso in Up, Buzz in Finding Nemo and Jessie in Monsters Inc. My questions is, while its safe to say that Lotso and Buzz in Up and FN respectively might be other mass produced versions of the same toys (i.e another Lotso or Buzz, and not the characters we know), having Boo have a Jessie doll reminds me of the fan rumor that Boo is Andy and Hannah’s daughter (a premise that I hate). I can see Lotso and Buzz being other versions, but Jessie is kind of rare and she might not be as readily found as mass produced items.

So are the toys seen in other Pixar films the same characters from TS?

[spoil]I’m wondering if the little AA girl in Up with Lotso is actually Daisy, the girl who leaves Lotso, Chuckles etc in the field.[/spoil] -Omar

But she did have other dolls of her made and how would it make sense to be andys and hannahs daugter i mean it supose to be 2001 and why would it be andy and hannah thats not going to happen.

Don’t forget Rex in Wall-E. I think that they’re not the same characters from Toy Story but they’re the same kind of toy, like with Utility Belt Buzz as opposed to Andy’s Buzz. Buzz of course was shown to be a very popular toyline so it wouldn’t be any surprise to see a toy that so many kids like in the dentist’s waiting room (even if it would be an odd place to find such a toy). And even though Jessie is supposedly a very rare 50’s doll there’s no reason not to think that Boo’s family couldn’t also have still had one from around that time. It’s most likely that Boo was given that toy by one of her parents who grew up then.

Not sure what to say about Lotso yet.

I just thought of it as an Easter Egg since Pixar loves sneaking in their own characters in their movies as cameos or hidden objects.

If Jessie was given to Boo, then maybe a family member gave her to Boo. Maybe that didn’t happen and Monsters Inc takes place in the 50’s so Jessie dolls are probably all over the place in their world.

KarmaWolf, that’s a neat idea. True, there can always be more than one Jessie doll, just like there’s more than one Lotso, Rex, Buzz etc. -Omar

The Luxo Ball couldn’t possibly be the same in all cases. There’s just too many. Besides, some movies take place in different continuities, like Luxo Jr., Red’s Dream, and Cars. There may be cameos, but it just wouldn’t make sense that cars and lamps would be alive (we know Andy’s wasn’t).
Jessie may be a rare collectable, but she’s definately not the last one. There’s no evidence that suggests this, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible, either. Lotso was promoted as a popular 80’s toy, so again, that means it’s doubtful. Finally, Rex was also mass-produced, but he was from a cheap, no-name brand. Again, I’d assume not many have survived. Still, we’d never know for sure (Lee’s Twitter, anyone?).

He’s from Mattel! Well, he’s not really from Mattel, he’s actually from a company that was bought in a leverage buyout.

lol

I agree that these are just the same toys and not the same characters. Unless a toy is handmade, I highly doubt there is only one of it in the world.
