I think you mean pro-life.
Potato, Potata. I prefer not to use their marketing terms.
Whatever. It’s a difference of opinion. The correct term is pro-life, just like i can’t call you pro-death or anti-life, i have to say you’re pro-choice. XD
Wait, is she the one that wants Creationism to be taught in schools?
Hmm. I can see how she’d be popular in America, but it’s sort of scary to think that people with her rather strong view points could be put into such an immense position of power.
Who says I’m not
But c’mon. That’s all marketing speak and is a disservice to any actual debate on the issue.
"“I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”
She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum. "

So she’s not as bad as others on that issue but it’s still sad how so many people say “oh evolution is just a theory anyway” having no idea what constitutes a scientific theory.
I think people do know what makes a scientific theory…i learned that in biology.
What Palin probably wants is equal oppertunities for creation and also evolution. So that students can have both sides.
Fett101: A scientific theory is still a theory for a very good reason. Here’s what i’m talking about. You don’t know what you’re supporting! ![]()
A113- That was actually a really interesting read! Guess it proves that either way, we don’t know the answer. And even if we do, we have no way of actually proving it, whether the right answer is evolution or not. I’ve been taught the basic concept of Creationism in school in RS, and it’s an interesting idea, though- in the same way as evolution- it can’t be proven. I guess nothing really can.
I do think that man’s search for ‘an answer’ to all of this is just fascinating.
Anyway, back on topic…It sounds as though the choice of Sarah Palin has actually brought more support to the Republican party, but I wonder how much of that is down simply to the fact that she’s female?
There are no ‘both sides’. It is a tested proven theory with available evidence. It’s not like Darwin suddenly came up with it and all the scientists said “sounds good to us”. It’s being constantly tested and updated and tweaked and has been since it was first proposed (hence the theory and not scientific law)
Creationism is just thinly veiled religion trying to be passed off as science Where is the evidence for creationism? Why do people push so hard to find evidence even? Faith is supposed to be a big part of religion and this pressure to push creationism as a provable fact rather undermines that. But why is there a need in some religious circles to try and disprove it at all. The Roman Catholic church has made remarks supporting evolution while still upholding that there was a god who created it all. The entire religion didn’t suddenly become a pack of violent wild heathens when it did so.

“You refer to the prophecy of The One who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it’s this boy?”
There’s a rule against debate? What good is an online message board without political or religious debate. That’s like having mountain dew without the caffeine.
Yes? And when was the last time you saw a religion debate that didn’t almost get a topic locked?
What does being pro-life have to do with feminism? All that means is that she doesn’t believe that abortion she be allowed unless under certain circumstances (Such as if it would cause real harm to the mother).
There’s a rule against ugly debate. We have had very peaceful religious threads in the past, so I see no reason why we can’t have very peaceful political threads as well. If things get out of hand, though, we’ll step in.
On topic, though, I like Sarah Palin. She’s an energetic person and a dynamic speaker. I wasn’t sure whether I was going to vote for McCain, but she makes me a little more confident in their ticket. I still need to see where she stands on a few issues before I’m really going to jump behind them, though.
However, when it comes to the whole “experience” thing, remember that Sarah (for some reason, I can’t call her by her last name like I do the guys) is the comparative political newbie on her ticket, and she’s the #2. Obama is the comparative political newbie on his ticket, and he’s the #1.
Do with this what you will. I’m republican in ideology, but in “politics,” I’m Switzerland. I don’t expect to change anybody’s mind, because I know it’s hard to get me to change my mind.
could you show me some evidence towards evolution and i’ll show you evidence towards creation.
(lets take this to another thread)

Here we go. I’ve read a political thread. I must throw in my views…
First, I resent the commonly-used term, ‘crazy feminist’. We aren’t crazy! We just want equality. Politically, socially, economically. Did you know we still don’t have an ERA (Equal Rights Amendment)? That means women generally still aren’t getting paid as much as men. And that’s still legal. What’s the deal with that? It’s also very demeaning to generalize and just assume that women will vote for her because she’s a woman. It’s so cheap of McCain to assume that by choosing a woman as his running mate, he’s going to win because he’ll get all the women in the country on his side. Women aren’t that dumb! We’ll vote for who we think is right! Not just any female!
But this post is about Palin. I think she’s not cut out for being vice president. (If you can’t tell, I’m a democrat). I’m ALL for a woman in power. I was originally a Hillary supporter (now Obama)! But Palin’s views on the issues all go AGAINST what most women want! I mean she’s pro-life (but let’s not get too into that; sticky subject). And she’s backed McCain in just about everything… totally wrong, in my opinion.
Now let’s talk about her “experience”. For 8 years she was the mayor of some small town in Alaska with 9 thousand people total, and she left them in debt for some big sport shop – not a very promising idea in our current economy… Now for the last 2 years, she’s been governor of Alaska. Look at what she’s “accomplished”. She opposed the polar bear being put on the Endangered Species list, basically so that they could continue with their oil and gas production in the poor bears’ habitats. She also opposed better protection measures for beluga whales for the same reason – money, essentially. She allowed hunting wolves from helicopters. She is FOR capital punishment (the death penalty). She is a member of the National Rifle Association, and believes in the Second Amendment, saying that we all have the right to a gun (what answer do you have to the victims of the Virginia Tech. massacre???). She thinks global warming is not caused by humans. Hm, too bad there’s PROOF that it is! And that’s probably the reason she doesn’t care about biodiversity and prefers to create more and more oil and gas instead.
Don’t any of these Republicans get that it’s all these fossil fuels and crap that are destroying us! Environmentally and economically!
It’s just riddiculous. They call themselves the “conservative, moral” party, but I find guns, animal cruelty, and murder COMPLETELY IMMORAL. Especially when it’s all for profit. $$$
I just think she’s such a joke. and that’s my opinion! Feel free to disagree. I’m open to other opinions. But I am also really confident in my own beliefs. I listened to her speech with an open mind and disagreed with a lot! So. That’s basically it.
Sheila
And, uh. I hope none of that is considered “flaming”…
I recently read Sarah Palin’s speech, and I must say that she’s definitely got something going for both her and McCain. So far, the aura she’s emitted is, to me, altogether headstrong, confident, and sure-footed. I voted her a 4/5 – the only reason I took off a number is because she supports aerial wildlife killing. Other than that, I’m all for Ms. Palin and her beliefs.
As for Mr. McCain’s speech, I have yet to listen to and review it, although I have complete confidence in the gentleman.

Sarah Palin has been attacked by the New York Times 67 times in the last 3 days.
67 times from 1 newspaper in 3 days.
Don’t tell me that they aren’t getting desperate.
First of all, I agree with Sarah Palin on the fact that the needs of our fellow human beings outweigh the animals, however cute and cuddly they may be. Those wolves were threatening moose and caribou herds that Alaskans use for food, and people use gas and oil to heat their homes…
I don’t believe in global warming, either. If you go here and look at the graph on the right, you see that there was a spike in average temperature change back in the 40s and 50s, yet this article, written in 1975, warns about global cooling. If you’re brave, read this article from the Journal of Geophysical Research (a peer-reviewed journal, so this is good research) that shows a correlation between the global temperature and sunspot activity on the sun. This article from NASA shows that there was a peak in sunspot activity right around 2000, and this article from NASA shows that sunspots follow an 11-year cycle. Right now we’re at a lull in the cycle, which shows that we just might have a colder year.
Is this a silver bullet in the heart of global warming? Probably not, but don’t think everything is as dire as some people are making it out to be. However, before anyone starts calling me out, I do believe in good stewardship of the planet, as it is a resource that has been given to us (I believe by God), but I believe the best way to do that is to practice moderation in everything.
Wow. I haven’t done that much research since graduation.
KE- Yeah, I’ve heard theories about the planet going through natural stages of warming and cooling, and what we’re experiencing is just a warming period, and that we shouldn’t be worried.
But back on topic. ![]()
A scientific theory is a theory that has never been disproven. All five faith-based evolutionary theories have been disproven.
Seashell fossils have been found on mountains. Tiny floods don’t do that. I live in New Mexico, by the Sandia Mountains. While on the Sandia Peak Tramway (which you gotta try if you’re in the Albuquerque area, by the way), a tour guide was teaching that a huge sea covered even these very high elevation mountains. This was evolutionary, though.
So we both agree that there was a huge flood; Christians believe it was from God and only lasted a little while, and evolutionists believe it was a result of the million-year rains and lasted millions of years.
So whose flood really happened? There’s plenty of evidence for Noah’s flood, and evidence against the evolutionists’ flood.
There is a good reason why we prove it: most people believe the opposite, which make them turn away from God.
The Roman Catholics are wrong. The Bible is the truth.
And if Sarah Palin wants to give both theories an equal chance, i’ll vote for John McCain…well, if she removes ageism from the Constitution by then. ![]()
Okay Back on topic…
The question was;
What do you think of Sarah Palin as the VP for John McCain??
I think she’s awesome. ![]()
