Does anyone know what short film will be attached to Wall-E? I’m getting a little concerned that there might not be one, seeing as the short film usually debuts the winter before the film’s summer release, but yet, I’ve not heard of any new short film coming out of the studio last year that might go attached to the upcoming film. So, is there gonna be a new short film with this? or will it be a catalog one (ie. Red’s Dream, Tin Toy, something else)? or will there not be one?
There’s a number of things we all expect when we enter that theatre for the latest Pixar adventure. First, it’s a great film that entertains us with great story, comedy, characters and technological advancement (that we don’t notice, of course, but is still there). But before that, we expect a first glimpse at what we can expect next from Pixar, and more importantly, a short film that’s just as entertaining as the film itself.
There is a short that will be attached to WALL-E, Andrew Gordon’s working on it. He said he was wrapping up work on it in January in the Spline Doctors blog. This indicates it wasn’t ready to be announced at the usual time (Winter). I guess it’ll be announced soon, but it bothers me how long it’s taking to even announce a title.
Well that’s good to know. It is strange that we know pretty much nothing about it though. I was starting to think too they would just recycle an old one…
Enrico Casarosa on his blog reported that a young Pixar story artist has died, Justin Wright.
According to this article about him:
He was young so I don’t think he was “important” in the making of the short, but it’s very sad when a young artist passes away. Maybe they’ll dedicate the short to him?
From what Ted Mathot wrote on his blog, Justin and he and one other both worked in story on the short, and he was surprised they got anything done because they kept laughing at each other’s gag drawings.
