Shrek drinking glasses recalled

I’m not sure if anyone watched the news tonight (I did for some strange reason; I guess I don’t have a life), but apparently the Shrek drinking glasses from McDonald’s have all been recalled.

Here is an article from the Huffington Post: [url]HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost

Apparently the paint on the glasses contains metal cadmium, which is very toxic! Who wants that near their mouth?

Considering who we are as a fandom, I doubt many of us (if any) have purchased these glasses. Perhaps this recall reflects Shrek Forever After’s failure as a movie! Haha.

Just wanted to let you all know though; I’d hate to see a Pixar Planet member poisoned!

Well I don’t have to worry about that cause not only have I lost interest in Shrek but I’m also one of those people who thinks that Happy Meal toys and stuff like that aren’t as good as they used to be anymore (at least from a childhood memories point-of-view of remembering the toys you get seeming a lot cooler than today). I just hope they were recalled fast enough before too many people got sick from them.

I think Happy Meal toys are way more exciting when you are still a kid.I used to go crazy collecting them and would get really upset if I got a double; my mom would go to the counter and ask for a switch! My favortie collection was the animal toy line for the opening of WDW’s Animal Kingdom back in like 1998, I believe. I lived in Virginia back then, gees. I vividly remember hunting down and successfully completing the collection, though!

If I only I knew where any of my Happy Meal toys are…

But yeah, I really hope people didn’t get sick from this.

My dad bought me one from Shrek The 3rd, but none of these.

Yea I saw that in my state paper called The Herald Sun, it was small but I got the message . I’m just glad this dident happen in Australia!
All I have to say is I hope the people ( that’s IF there are people ) Recover on what happend with the toxic and to Mcdonalds to rethink of their toys in the happy meal. Like what happend with bndies or bedoes, I can’t really remember what they were called, eather one of those, ( I don’t know if it happend in the U.S.A )
but their were these small beeds that you match up and spray water on them and they magicly joined up!. Aparently, the beeds were very toxic and kids could easyily swallow them. So they recalled them and took the toxic away and added a taste that kids don’t like.
Just think of this as like the old plot of TS3 where buzz was recalled to tairwin and buzz meets old recalled toys and the gang had to save buzz.

Wow. Hopefully nobody drank out of those and got sick. But from the article it looks like the effects are more serious and longer lasting than that. Makes you wonder how many times they’ve gotten away with it.

That’s pretty bad. Glad to hear that they spotted the problem, though.

I really don’t know why, but when I first read the title of this thread I immediately thought of shot glasses, and was thinking, ‘why would they make shot glasses for a child-friendly film like Shrek?’

Like I said in the Shrek thread, the studio is not to be blamed, it’s the merchandising company. DW simply sold the rights to use their characters on the cups in exchange for a cut of the profits, but they weren’t the ones who do the quality-control.

I like to think of it as karma-payback for Mr Katsucksburg and McSick. Can’t wait for peeps to sue their butts!

Hahahahahaha. I just died.

Yep, that happened here. Except they were first called ‘Aqua Dots’ and then - after recall - called ‘Pixos’. Entirely same commercial, different name. At first my sister and I were confused about the name change, and then cracked up when we decided on our reason. The fact they had the gull to use the same commercial… :stuck_out_tongue:

On topic…

I went to McD’s on the same day I found out about the cups, and I really wanted to ask the employees about the whole thing

Yea I just hope that this is not going to happen again with Mcdonalds toys and Toys/merchandise that you buy at a big brand shop (E.G U.S Wallmart, Target and Toys ‘R’ Us. UK Sainburys and Toys ‘R’ Us. Australia Target, Kmart and BigW)

That’s too bad. I’m not a big fan of Shrek, but I admit that I wanted the Puss in Boots glass. I love Puss in Boots! Mostly because he’s the dreamy Antonio Banderas in cat form.

Oh sweet God.

Kids DRINK from these things! And because most people are too blissfully ignorant to watch the news…shudders.

Who would drink out of this stuff anyway? Even if it wasn’t poisoned with REAL poison, I would probably be poisoned just because it was a Shrek cup! :stuck_out_tongue:

The only happy meal toys worth getting excited about were the Sonic The Hedgehog toys and all PIXAR toys.

what about the shrek 3 glasses i have those and drink from them alot!

That’s Shrek 4. He’s speaking of Shrek 3, I believe.

Oh alright, my bad!
