I’m a huge Mel Brooks fan and SILENT MOVIE is often listed as among one of his best films. It’s a modern (or as of 1976, anyway) mostly silent film; only one word is spoken about an hour in (delivered ironically by Marcel Marceau, one of cinema’s most famous mimes). I had never seen it until today, and I thought it was nothing but fun. You can tell that Brooks had seen several silent films in his time and that he and his cast had a blast making it. Who else has seen this great film?
I saw it a long time ago.
Quite a masterpiece.
I also recently saw another Mel Brooks classic for the first time: High Anxiety! Now this one I absolutely adored! I never laughed harder at a movie than I did at the first ten minutes of HA.
This is one of the few Mel Brooks movies I haven’t seen. Which is really suprising, because I love Silent Movies, so you’d think I’d of seen this one already.
