So did Monster's Inc make the most Toy Story references?

This is probably the wrong forum to talk about this in but y’know how Pixar movies make character cameos or references to past Pixar movies? Like Buzz’s cameo in Finding Nemo for example.

Well I think Monester’s Inc did the most Toy Story references and here’s a list of them, all the one’s I remember.

  • Andy’s old wallpaper from Toy Story 1.
  • John Ratzenburger (Hamm) as the abominable snow monster
  • Jessie’s cameo at the end of the movie
  • Rex’s cameo during the movie outtakes.
  • I think Boo had Andy’s ball as well but I’m not sure.

I don’t think any other of Pixar’s movies made this many Toy Story references but in Monster’s Inc, it would’ve been decent if their organization had Andy’'s room! I woulda loved to see Sully scare the crap outta Andy!

Plus there’s one of those scary posters from Sid’s room in a door that one of the Scarers goes through. You’re right, emergencyexit42, there does seem to be a lot of Toy Story references in Monsters, Inc.. I guess at the time, Toy Story was probably still the ‘major film’ of those that had been working at Pixar, especially since they’d already made a sequel, so it was probably still stuck in their minds as they made Monsters, Inc..

And your idea of a Monster scaring in Andy’s room is pretty cool. I would’ve liked to have seen that!

Oh really? I never seen any of Sid’s posters. Not saying it wasn’t there but it must have been super hidden. But it’s cool that Monster’s Inc did a lot of Toy Story references.

emergencyexit42- You can see one quite near the beginning of the film, when the blue Mon with long arms and sharp lower teeth comes out of a child’s room, exclaiming ‘it almost touched me! I could’ve died!’ or something along those lines. Just as he slams the door open and closed, you can see one of Sid’s scary posters in the bedroom.

At least, I think that’s it. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched the film in full.

Yeah that’s it. I think there’s a feature on the DVD that shows where all the ‘in-jokes’ are. Otherwise I never would have noticed that poster was originally in Sid’s room
