Some Random Points About Pixar Films

There are no Pixar spoilers in this, unless you haven’t seen Toy Story-The Incredibles

I had these thoughts in my head, and I feel like sharing them.

  1. Anyone notice how much Violet Parr and Princess Atta have in common? They both start out not-so-confident, but they begin believe more and more in themselves. And at some point, they forget their fears and risk their lives to defend someone (Atta stops Hopper from killing Flik; Violet uses her force field to protect Dash). And in the end, they seem to accept who they are, and what’s in their blood. In both movies ABL and TI, some people are forced into doing something, but because of someone trying something different than what most people are doing, things change for the better.

Another similarity they share is a SAME LINE! I just noticed that they both say “What did you do?!” (Violet says it when Dash finds that a rocket is blasting off in their direction in the cave/ Atta says it when she hears that the food for the grasshoppers is gone, right after Flik tries to tell her something)

  1. Dot kinda reminds me of Lilo, because both get picked on, are friends with someone everyone else thinks is weird, and have older sisters that are stressed out.

  2. A Bug’s Life reminds me of The Lion King, because someone (Simba/Flik) has left and no one thinks that they’ll return. And in both, there is a dark scene where there is almost no food left and Scar/Hopper is telling everyone what to do. And in the end, the royal one (Simba/Atta) accept their responsibility as a ruler.

  3. Anyone here think that Wall-E is just a teensy bit like Tarzan? They feel alone, then along comes someone of their own kind, and they fall in love. And both say their name first.

  4. In the Toy Story 2 bloopers, I noticed that all the bloopers are made by the toys. None of the real people, such as Andy, were in it. This is like suggesting that Toy Story 2 was filmed with toys, and the people don’t realize that they’re being filmed.

  5. Dory is like B.E.N. in Treasure Planet because [spoil]both are very forgetful, but near the end, everything comes back to them[/spoil]

  6. The Nightmare Before Christmas reminds me just a bit about Monsters, Inc, although I don’t know how to explain why. Maybe because they both involve [spoil]scaring, but they don’t mean any harm? [/spoil]

What do you think?

I definitely agree with all of those! In regards to number seven, I have always felt the same way, not only because of the whole scaring thing, but also because they both involve going through doors into other worlds. They also both present what we would usually find as scary as the good side rather than the bad side, both lead characters (Jack/Sulley) are looked up to by their peers, and both lead characters felt that they had something missing from their lives (Boo/Christmas).

Oh, I forgot, it’s also like Enchanted because it crosses between two worlds

Hmmm, really excelent points. I never thought Vi and Atta were similar, but now, you got me thinking a little bit.

Another one I came up with now is how A Bug’s Life is like Chicken Run, because they are trying to escape, and then comes what seems to be an answer, but then it turns out the “hero(es)” is/are from the circus. Then they come up with another plan, building something that flies.

I’m not saying they’re rip-offs, just pointing out similarities

The Atta/Violet similarities are amazing, B•-R! :astonished: That one line “What did you do?!” is even more amazing. :astonished: :astonished: Amazing. How did you find that out? Just noticed one day? :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Anyway, those last points I wouldn’t understand because I haven’t seen those Disney 2 movies.

I rewatched some Pixar films, then recognized the similarity.

Don’t you find Dash and Nemo kinda similar!

No.
8D 8D 8D 8D 8D

Not much, except when they both disobey their parent(s) and dare to do something in school

And not to mention both are big on energy.

A113: Can you try to be a little open?

Just adding to the Lion King/A Bug’s Life similarities, both include the line, “Tell me this isn’t true.”

And in addition to the TI/ABL similarities, both involve the line “WHOSE IDEA WAS THIS?!” (Hopper when he finds out hte bird is a fake, Dash when the kids are panicking after the plane exploded, right before he says “We’re dead, we’re dead, we survived but we’re dead!”

But the similarities go beyond just the lines.

And yeah, Nemo and Dash DO seem kind of similar, when I think about it, but their dads are so unalike. Marlin is overprotective, while Mr. Incredible is impressed by Dash’s risk. Dash is part of a whole family, Nemo’s is broken. Dash shows off his powers, while Nemo focuses on that he has a bad fin.

TSS: Sorry, TSS, but I just don’t see any similarities at all, other than they are both young and male. I just found that hilarious.

TSS: Now that I think about it, yeah, Dash and Nemo have more in common than I thought.

First of all, both know they are capable of doing things, but their parent forbid it.
Secondly, both have had something happen to their family, a threat made since before they were born.
And also, both have some sort of nickname. “The Dash”/ “Sharkbait”
Thanks for pointing that out, it took me a while to realize that.

Another thing I just realized:

In the Wall-E trailer, when the spacship is about to land, and he tries to get out, he is blocked, he goes the other way, and is blocked, it just reminds me of a scene in The Incredibles where Dash is running on water, and is positive that he can make it through the cave, but is blocked and surrounded by the henchmen.

hey… good points about Nightmare similarities there!

Also, what are thoes grey lines blocking some of your text, bright-dot-dasher?

Oh, you mean the spoiler tags? Those are used to cover up any spoilers in case someone hasn’t seen the film talked about. If you’ve already seen the film, and it’s OK for you to read spoilers, then you just highlight it and the text will be visible to you.

Excuse me for double-posting.

One more thing for now:

  1. Finding Nemo is like Pinnochio. How? Because of Pinnchio looking for his father underwater (“Dad? Da—aaaa-aaad?”) and Jiminy cricket going like: “Dad!” by mistake even though it’s not his father. And in Finding Nemo, Nemo goes around saying “Da-aaad?” and Dory just repeats, “Daaaaad?”

And the line “Are you my conscience?” by Dory and Pinnnochio.

(In case you’re wondering, the reason why this is point 12 is because of the other previous points I have added, but not numbered.)

Hmm… I’ve thought a bit about these similarities and I think that they are less direct similarities and rather just fitting the archetype of the father-son relationship of, for example, Nemo and Marlin. I don’t think the writers pointed at Pinnochio and said “Hey! We should reference that scene here!” Rather, the norm of the son getting lost and the father being worried usually starts out with a cry for help, or in this case, a cry for the son’s father.

Anyways, that was just my two cents. For all I know the writers of Pixar movies could be looking back on classic films!

I agree, Pixelated.

Here are some more points, now involving T.V shows.

  1. There is an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody ( I forgot the title of it) where Cody doesn’t feel right about his girlfriend being the tougher one. Meanwhile, Zack tries to impress a girl by taking credit off of someone else’s cooking. When I saw this episode, it reminded me of Ratatouille.

  2. There is an episode of Hannah Montana where Lily and Miley get into a fight. To make them work it out, Oliver handcuffs them together. During Miley/Hannah’s speech, she had to show Lily’s hand and pretend it was her own, while Lily was hiding behind her, trying to embarrass her out of anger. When Hannah saw the hand doing all kinds of things, she made up the excuse “Something’s stuck in my teeth”. Now that reminds me of Ratatouille as well.

  3. Now this episode I know the name of. It’s I want you to want me to go to Florida. When Miley’s dad gets injured, she is not allowed to go to Florida. But Miley really wants to and comes up with many solutions. But her dad says no. Her dad is being overprotective and doesn’t think she is ready to do this. Miley gets so mad at him that she says. “I hate you.” Finding Nemo, anyone?

( There’s no rip-off here, I know it. And you don’t have to question whether or not I watch these shows, stay on the topic of similarities.)

You guys gotta keep in mind, when you get down to it, there are only so many types of plots and situations. When you write a good story, you’re just using those basic things in a new way. That’s why writers tend to be really good at making predictions/speculation. We know the playbook. XD
