So, Lee went on a Q and A spree on Twitter today and confirmed A few returning characters. Bo Peep (ah hah!) Wheezy,and RC. and Lenny too I see.
It’s still unclear how large a role they’ll have though, could just be cameoes or flash backs for all we know, but it’s a start.
Also he was asked about bloopers this time around, but said answering that would get him fired. I’d like to take that as a yes but I have no real reason to, heh.

We have the trailer in HD, if they were already there someone would have spotted them by now. But I have a feeling if they will be there at all they will have at least a little screen time beyond some of the home video stuff. Even if we only see them in flash backs, it could at least show us what happened to them during all the time that has passed from TS2 to present.
Wheezy? Without Joe Ranft? I don’t know…

Actually I must have missed or forgot about Lenny being mentioned. But I wasn’t mistaken, Wheezy is confirmed back as well read more of the comments.
And I’m not sure why anyone’s surprised. if they can replace varney they can replace Ranft. I think the only characters that are truely off limits of replacing is Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. in which case they wouldnt be making this movie in the first place.

Actually, to me it doesnt seem surprising that they’re back. I was kind of expecting them to be, at least in some capacity. Doesnt mean I expect them all to have big parts, but I figured they’d be there. Although, Bo Peep is technically his sister’s right? and is a figurine on a lamp I think. So…did she give the lamp away at the same time Andy gave his toys away?
I agree - seems to me that most, if not all, characters would make it back for the third in some capacity. It seems like the Pixar thing to do, no? I’m actually really looking forward to seeing all the new characters that will be in it - like Mr. Pricklepants (mostly because I like his name.)
I wasn’t expecting Lenny because he’s such a minor character, he had what two lines in the first movie? Was he even in the second one? I see no reason to assume he’d be back automatically.
As for Bo, I was expecting her to return, since Lee said the “whole cast” was returning, yet when asked specifically about Bo, he said he couldn’t say. Why couldn’t you say unless she wasn’t? just to screw with us? or maybe she’s part of a twist and didn’t want to give it away? or maybe she simply wasn’t in at the time, and they found a good place to squeeze her in.
I’m a little surprised to hear that some of these characters are back, not because of the voicing problems but because I’m finding it difficult to see how they can be included in the new story. But as others have said, it might just be in a very minor capacity, so we don’t really know yet.

They were in the Teaser Trailer, after all.
Well, it’s just that there’s been a surprising lack of evidence, previously, that could neither confirm nor deny their presence in TS3. They weren’t mentioned by Unkrich in any interviews, they weren’t listed on IMDB, and they weren’t in the trailer. But, not it seems definite that they’ll be in Toy Story 3.
I wonder what role Lenny will get.
I think he’ll appear early in the film, like in The bag that the toys are stuck in the truck…
Since Bo, Lenny, Wheezy and RC didn’t appear in any of the trailers, even when we see kid Andy playing with his toys, it’s possible that they will only have extremely minor roles in the plot, perhaps even just appearing in flashbacks. Plus, if they were going to be in the film they will be, I’m assuming, be with a bunch of Andy’s other toys as well (I can understand Bo Peep, but why bring back Lenny, RC, and Wheezy and not show Andy’s other toys). So I’m guessing they’ll be in a lot of background shots in flashbacks.
Maybe he’ll even show up in the Daycare after Spanish Buzz…
i just don’t get how they can suddenly just take out everyone else and not include them in the movie. even those who were kind of minor (rocky,robot,snake,mr spell,army men,shark, mr mike) were very influential in the previous movies. im just curious to see what happened to them all because itd be stupid to just let you imagine their fate
