While granted, it’s just a distribution arrangement at this point, What could this mean down the line?

Initially, this news story made me groan. After all, there’s not been a single dreamworks picture that i’ve actually enjoyed.
But on reflection, as long as it’s only distribution rights then there’s no real problem. I wonder if Jerry Katzenberg will stay with dreamworks? At the moment i can’t imagine that it would change much.
Perhaps it’ll just be like Pixar and Disney’s relationship? Still, i wouldn’t very much want to see a shrek ride in disneyland, or a kung fu panda show. That is something that would bother me much more than the movies and distribution themselves.
DreamWorks is a fine production studio and Disney distributing their films would be good for Disney and DreamWorks. Remember everyone, this isn’t DreamWorks Animation we’re talking about…
There’s no Jeffrey Katzenberg involved, this is purely Steven Spielberg’s side of things, which can only be good news for Disney.
This shouldn’t interfere in any way with Pixar and who knows, maybe we’ll see Spielberg’s next epic at Disney World!
We’ll see how the deal turns out in a few days.
I read about this last night, and as far as I know, DreamWorks Animation SKG is technically a separate company from DreamWorks Studios.
On a completely random side-note, when I saw the name of this thread, I was expecting something about tectonic plates and Earthquakes, or something! I guess I was taking the word ‘seismic’ literally, rather than figuratively… (I do that sometimes.)
I only have one thing to say. Boo Dreamworks! But seriously I hope this is’nt true.
Once again, DreamWorks* and DreamWorks Animation are separate. If you look at DreamWorks’ library, you might find you like some (or many) of their movies. Now if this was Disney distributing DreamWorks animated movies then I’d… explode.*
You can bet that Disney and DreamWorks Animation won’t be working with each other anytime soon considering Jeffrey Katzenberg’s view of the company and all that.
And again, this won’t affect Pixar, so us super-fans shouldn’t worry at all.
I retract my fears then, I should have payed more attention to the original article rather than the initial glance
I eagerly await the road to perdition ride!
Wow…this is great!!!
This means that now the producer of E.T., Indiana Jones, and Jurassic Park will be with Disney!!!
This is great news…
As long as it doesn’t involve the animation division, I’m unperturbed. Looks like it should be okay, then.
