As we enter a new year and our sixth month, we feel now is as
good a time as any to address a few issues that we feel have been troubling us.
Some of you may have
noticed that originally we the admins were editing posts that contained excessive caps use or use of internet
abbreviations (u instead of you, r instead of are, and so forth). However, a combination of our schedules and the
number of instances has so far kept us from keeping up. Please, excessive caps is considered the same as shouting
and is very rude. Internet abbreviations, or IM and text language, make posts very hard to read, and since we
have members for whom English is not their first language it would be considerate to keep our posts as
easy-to-read as possible. Instead of using caps, we ask that you would use boldface
or italics to emphasize words. For some members, this may mean no longer putting
their entire message in boldface.
In addition, I have also noticed an increase in short, one-sentence
posts. This does not foster discussion. If something sparks your interest, please let us know why. I have seen
posts that tell a reader nothing other that you seem interested in the topic, and nothing further. Also, I have
seen posts where four or five people simply say similar things one after the other. It gives the appearance of us
being mindless “yes-men,” which I know we are not.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation, and
happy posting!
