Remember when this show was on Kids WB every Saturday? Virgil Hawkins becomes a superhero after he and hundreds of others were in a “Big bang”. When they breathed in the gas, they got powers. Virgil’s best friend, Richie, later got the power of being super smart and became Gear. I was 4 season’s long. It was gonna have a 5th but it didn’t happen when a toy deal failed. Anyone watched it? I still remember about the vast majority of shows that I watched every morning on Kids’ WB!. I can name most of them too.

Not really expecting anyone to remember all of these though, except the most obvious ones. Now of course I just think of some of these as shows that I watched cause they were on (though I was among the many caught up in the popularity of the Pokémon anime when it was the highlight of the block). Static Shock may have been one of those as well. I thought the show was kinda cool, but I don’t remember being into it as much as Batman/Superman Adventures or Batman Beyond, and I didn’t know it was based on an actual DC comics series either.
I never really watched the show, but I remember that Dwayne McDuffie, who was mostly responsible for creating the character, passed away just recently.
I remember most of them. I remember when Pokemon was new, it was on weekday’s before school. So we would be like, “Did you see the new Pokemon episode?!” “Yeah, it was cool!” Then they put it on Saturday mournings. Also heard of Dwayne McDuffie death. At least he made a pretty good series.
Yeah, it was a shame. I knew him better for his work on Justice League. Static Shock is one of those many shows that I would like to watch eventually, but its pretty low down on my priorities right now.
Hmm, I never heard of this show but it sounds itneresting! The only shows I remember from Kids WB was Freakazoid, Animaniacs, and Tiny Toons.
I loved Static Shock. I’m glad I can revisit the show on Youtube. But I would loved season sets on DVD or Blu-ray.
And since somebody talked about Kids WB, am I the only one who enjoyed Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad Island? I was sad to see Kids WB go. The last two years it was on, I would get up at 7 in the morning, and watch every show until 12 in the afternoon. It was the first Saturday morning line up I loved all the way through in years.

Yeah, it’s on my Top 10 Favorite Cartoons List. Not really sure where at on the list since I haven’t physically made one (and I can only think of 5 favorites). Thinking about Static Shock brings me back to the Kids! WB days with shows like Pokemon, Men in Black, Jackie Chan Adventures, Batman Beyond etc.
Yay, you mentioned Generation O!, which has the same plotline as Hannah Montana, though was more fun to watch, and was made first.
Really? I guess nostalgia isn’t quite as separate to today’s shows as we think.
