My boyfriend Austin drove me home after watching the first two Toy Story movies at his place, and then I brought up this random thought of mine regarding the Round-Up Gang…
Me: “Ever think it’s kinda creepy that two kids hang out with that crazy old prospector in the first place?”
Austin: “Well, to be fair, Woody’s the sheriff of the town, so he’s not really a kid. So that pretty much screws up your argument.”
Me: “… STFU.”
Yeah, I didn’t quite think that through, but that aside, it is a pretty odd selection of friends: a sheriff, some chick with severe ADHD who yodels with critters, and some nutty/mentally challenged gold mine worker. Putting it that way, Stinky Pete comes off as a stereotypical child molester, despite that Woody and Jessie aren’t necessarily children… shudders
idk, what do you guys think?
No, I can honestly say that I have never looked at it that way, and I don’t think that will change. Woody and Jessie aren’t children at all, so I don’t see anything creepy about their relationship with the prospector. He’s just a “colorful character” type.
…Dude, are we REALLY allowed to talk about this on the board?
…okaaaay, I think you have some serious psychological issues that you need to work out, and this board probably isn’t the best place to do so.
First off, no just no. Just because Woody’s a cowboy and Jessie’s a cowgirl does not make them “kids” so your boyfriend is completely wrong in that aspect. Secondly, WOW, you must have seriously misunderstood Toy Story and Woody’s Roundup because that theory couldn’t be more wrong. Those characters are supposed to be a strange bunch because that’s where the comedy is derived from. It’s the same with any action comedy adventure. Thirdly, Stinky Pete as a child molester!? I honestly have no comment for that.[/i]
Despite having a slightly perverted mind myself, I’d never actually thought of it like that, no. But due to the nature of this discussion, I think it’s best if we leave this one and I’ll lock it up.
