Stories and Villians for Sequels or TV series or comic book.

You know I have been thinking alot about The Incredibles, It being my favorite Animated Film of

all time and all. I have been thinking about different plots and villian ideas.

Besides being a huge

Pixar fan, Im also a fairly big superhero comic book fan, DC and Marvel comics respectfully, so I know quite a

bit about superheroes in general.

There are a few staples of DC and Marvel superhero comics that I think

would work for The Incredibles.

One example of this is Ancient Gods of Mythology. DC Comics has a lot to

do with Greek mythology. Wonder Woman for example, her origins are steeped in Greek Mythology, Aries and Hades

are some of her most prominet Villians

Marvel Comics has Norse Mythology, Thor one of their main

Superheroes is The Norse God of Thunder and his brother Loki is a major Villain.

So why can’t The

Incredibles have something like that. I was thinking Indian Mythology or Eygtian Mythology. For example Shiva is

the Hindu Godess of destruction theres a great Villian. or Anubis is the Eygitian god of The

Underworld.

Another stapel of these superhero comics is cosmic characters and villians. These are things

that take our heroes of earth to other planets in distant galaxies and alternate dimensions.

DC has The

New Gods with Apokolips and New Genesis and Darkseid and Highfather and Metron The Time Travler.

Marvel

has The Kree and The Skrull and the Shiar and Silver Surfer and Galactus and Thanos and a lot more

Stories

like this would be great for The Incredibles .

I don’t think Brad sees that happening in his world.

I think Brad Bird wants originality. I think he would want to come up with an

original Incredibles story before going to references of Marvel and DC.

I never said it could not be original, you misunderstood.

What I ment was that these types of characters and stories are staples of classic superhero story telling, they

are expected and appritiated.

I mean The Incredibles themselves are loosley based on the Fantastic Four

and The Underminer is heavily based on a Marvel Villian called The Mole Man, which is also an adversary of the

Fantastic Four.

Dash is the spitting image of a DC character called Impulse, in both age and

personality.

So you see Brad Bird has already been influanced by exsisting Superhero comics. This is not a

bad thing, in fact it’s a good thing. Take what you know about Superheroes and make thoes ideas original, while

still paying homage to what already exsists, thats what Brad Bird did.

I mean take for example the whole

Mythology thing, sure it’s been done with Norse Mythology and Greek Mythology, but not with Hindu Mythology or

Eygtian Mythology, there are some great possibilities for great stories. So you see you take an existing idea

that has been done before and make it your own.

Im guessing that most of you are not big Superhero Comic

Book fans and that fine, Im sure most of you did not know that they were based on the F4 or that Dash was partly

inspired by Impulse, or that Underminer is very similar to a Marvel character called Mole Man. Me being a

Superhero comic fan, I was able to enjoy this film on a whole other level that some of you were not able to.

Being a fan of comics gives me a unique insight.

I know that

the supers in The Incredibles were based on classic superheroes like Superman and

the Flash. How could I be an Incredibles fan and not be aware of that?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I also think it’s important to remember that The Incredibles exist in their own universe, not

the DC or Marvel universe, and we’ve been told it’s a universe similar to our own. It’s supposed to be one we

can relate to very closely and thus the reason we can appreciate the mundane happenings of the Supers’

“normal” lives as well as the fantastic events that occur. It’s meant to be a simpler and more

understandable universe than most comic book realms which is not to say that it’s better or worse, simply that

it’s unique and meant to display a different perspective to our world as much as have a world all its own.
