I hate it when someone’s “fandom” is just based around pairings and shippers, even when they’re canon, but specially those weird pairings you mention.
It happens in every franchise, not just with Pixar, and it’s always absurd.
There’s so much to admire in a movie/franchise, I don’t know why most “fans” just adore the “romantic” (sometimes romantic isn’t the right word) aspects of them. It’s just sad.
I like how Pixar’s films entertain everyone by balancing mushy stuff and bad-@$$ action. And that’s why everyone, even people who say they don’t, loves Pixar movies.
Not every movie needs a love story to work (take Finding Nemo for instance, but I know I’ll be attacked by the Marlin/Dory shippers arguing that they were, in fact a couple).
Anyway, even when the love story is the main driving force of the movie (Up being the clearest example), I still think the fandom needs to be more than just worshiping a couple.
I wanna make clear that I’m not referring to any of you guys in here, because I know a lot of you love shippers, and I’m okay with that. I’m actually thinking in some Harry Potter fans I know, but it happens in every franchise.
Not at all, IncredigirlVirginia. I wasn’t referring to you at all
It was just a general statement I wanted to make.
I’m expected to disagree in a board like this, after all. Most people in this forums are 15 years old girls, so I understand this is the main attraction for them.
For me, on the other hand, being a loveless 21 years old guy (and a cinema lover, on top), it’s very difficult to relate with that.
MiragexViolet??? Really? How do people imagine chemistry between them at all? Actually, don’t answer that.
BobxViolet??! EW. Disturbing!
Most of these I despise. The ones I don’t really hate are JessiexWoody and MarlinxDory. I don’t agree with them and I like them better as friends, but at least these pairings make more sense than the rest.
