Such a Depressing Movie

I don’t what it is about Finding

Nemo, but it’s very depressing, Maybe it’s the colour blue, maybe it’s the fact that the whole story is

sad.

It’s not one of the funniest Pixar ones yet either.

This is IMO.

I think it definitely has its funny moments- Dory really

lightens everything up- but there are some dark undertones and storylines that are dealt with. They still managed

to keep a lot of it quite lighthearted, IMO, but there are certainly parts that make me wanna cry. That’s one of

the key points to most Pixar films though; that rollercoaster of emotions, so to speak.

I prefer to call it

uplifting rather than depressing. This is most certainly one of the best father-son movies ever made. It ranks up

there with other great father-son films like Searching for Bobby Fischer,

Millions, Quiz Show (well, this is sort of a father-son

film), Life is Beautiful, Field of Dreams, and of

course (judging by my screenname), the Star Wars movies.

Ooooh yes it can be sad at times. But Dory does provide

comic relief, as do Bloat, Darla, and the seagulls.

I used to skip the beginning scene so my little boy

wouldn’t see Coral meet her demise.

I really think it’s the

funniest out of the Pixar movies… mainly because of Dory. I think what makes it depressing is that this movie is

dealing with a rather personal and potentially suicidal (lol… probably not… can you imagine little Nemo

committing suicide??) issue. Father and son (or Parent and child) issues can hit on a very Dr. Phil level.

I hope by “used to” you mean

that your letting your kid watch the full movie now.

No offense (and I don’t know your son) but I’d give

the kid the chance to see the death. PIXAR really does do a nice job at respecting the audience (kid & adult

alike) on that they will understand certain moments – like a death (FN), or an oppression (ABL), or a law suit

(TI), or the change in times (Route 66 to I-40/Cars).

I get the feeling that your son was generally

sad/scared the first time he saw Coral die and you didn’t want to cause him anymore disturbing thoughts than

necessary, but I hope that it wasn’t more than that.

Again, this is my opinion on 'dramatic plot

lines," especially if they’re done well, as PIXAR does.

Yeah,

because at the end of the day, Pixar knows that every age range will watch this film, and I think they do manage

to handle those ‘extreme plot lines’ very well, considering.

I’ll go and watch my DVD of it again, and probably realise you guys are right, just in my memory, all I can

remember is the depressing/sad parts.

But of course, I can still remember “just keep swimming”

I don’t think that it is a sad movie. Finding

Nemo has a powerful theme that impacts the viewers that have. The theme clearly states that sooner or later, you

have to let your children go. This is why this is a different mood from other Pixar films.

Yup. Most of the other movies embrace their youth. :-D)

I

don’t have children, I’m 15

Ditto! High five!

HAHA, your 15

too. Cool.

But

it is sad that everyine who will have children will have to face it one day that they have to let their kids

go.

Yeah, it would kinda be like just letting your

dog/cat go even though there is no reason why it can’t keep staying.

Not exactly true. There is a

reason why you have to let your kids go. In the movie, Marlin learns he can’t protect Nemo forever and has to

let his son be independent. Same concept applies with parents and their kids.

Ah, maybe I need to be a parent, I’ll come back to this in about 25 years. HAHA.

)

I’m 14.

Finding Nemo was the funniest Pixar movie to date

(because of Dory, of course  ), but it was not the best (The Incredibles).
My opinion. (But I can’t

understand that anyone thinks that FN isn’t a funny or even a depressed movie :open_mouth: )

I watched it again, And I’m talking rubbish haha, it’s really quite good, it’s just I could

only remember the sad parts.

Anyway, I think Cars/Toy Story 1 was the funniest.

I mean, who can

forgot “You done what to a cup” after McQueen mentions the Piston Cup. LMAO.

Yeah some parts were sad but there were also a lot of bits that I found quite hilarious  I

dont think it’s that depressing…
