no no…Alex has been transformed into a cat just like the other two have been changed into dogs and foxes.
Oh, I kinda get it now (sorta)
To explain some of the confusion, I’ll update soon. Tomorrow, if I have time.
Great! I can’t wait for it!
Ahhh…i probably just messed it up for ya.
We’ll see how the update does.
Part 26
The super dog and the spy fox just couldn’t believe what had just come out of the cat’s mouth.
Carmen looked closely at the cat’s appearance. The sleek black fur coat, the haunting deep eyes, the silver chain that dangled with charms around its neck, the minor scars on the tail, the marks on its body- it all still resembled the same black cat they had previously encountered. And when the cat spoke, it didn’t sound like Alex’s voice at all, nor any familiar voice.
“There’s no way you’re Alex. I saw the real Alex not too long ago,” the fox replied in disbelief.
“I don’t know what happened,” murmured Violet. “Is something else going on here?”
“Guys, let me explain. I switched places with the cat. There’s a body-switching spell. I broke the container that had my powers, and I wanted to test it out with the cat. Oh, and by the way, I found out her name is Illusiaura, and she used to had a long-lost love named Konst Anjo.”
“And you thought you could get away with that? Illusiaura in your body is like afraid and confused,” said Carmen. “If what you said is true. How can we be sure you’re really Alex?”
“I know about that Wizard Camp. Oh my gosh, wizard camp! Once we get out of this, I am so dead. This is more trouble than I’ve ever got into.”
“But how does turning us into animals help anything?” questioned Violet.
“Sorry I surprised you with that, but you know, in animal form, it’s the perfect disguise. Illusiaura knows more about this place than we do, so many she could pull off a few moves for us,” shrugged Alex the cat.
“You still should have explained before you took off like that,” said Carmen.
“Sorry. And yes, I know I also owe Illusiaura an apology if it was too big a step for her. Maybe I could help get her her boyfriend back.”
“Illusiaura…how do you spell that, anyway?” asked Violet.
“Like I know. Guys, I wanted also test if instincts got into you, as well as lead you to this room.”
The room they were in was like a top-secret library. There were books on the history of supers, of wizards, and of secret agents. There were locked files on the shelves and in the drawers, and stolen wizardry tools in a safe.
“All I hope is that we don’t have to read it all,” the wizard-in-the-cat’s-body groaned at the thought.
“No, we just need to return these where they belong,” said Violet. “To the magic world, the O.S.S., and in my case, to the N.S.A.”
Carmen leaped up to flick the lights on, but instead, the shelves lifted themselves extra high. So high, in fact, that looking up to spot it made them dizzy.
“How much did you mix up and rewire, Violet?” inquired the fox.
“A lot,” the super replied. “I didn’t keep track of it all.”
“I’m gonna have to climb it,” gulped Carmen. Why am I suddenly afraid of heights? I’ve had jet packs and climbed heights before. “Isn’t there a spell you could use to just bring it down again?”
“We’re messing with big stuff here. I don’t think it’ll do any good,” said Alex.
"Great, you choose now to quit using magic as a shortcut,’ muttered Carmen. She looked down at her paw, which had the spy-watch still on it. But its technology would probably be handled better if she were human.
“Alex, turn me into a human again so I can use stuff to climb up there,” she ordered.
Alex cautiously looked around, then whispered the spell. “Humanoza Espinoza.”
It was a quick transformation- even quicker than turning into a fox had been. She could feel the fur coat, point of her ears, claws and paws, and tail disappearing in a flash.
“You might want to use your stuff,” suggested Violet (who was still a dog), pushing Carmen’s backpack towards here.
“But how did this get here? And how can I still understand you?” asked Carmen, surprised.
“It’s a magic thing.”
The spy searched the backpack until finally she took out what she needed. The wall up to the materials was made of metal, so magnetic tools under her fingers could work. She tapped her shoes together once (the pocket-equiptment generator tucked in there) and her gadgets now could work. She would have just flew up to the top by rocket shoes, but that would have caused commotion. They were trying to do this as secretively as possible.
Step by step, Carmen climbed up, depending on the “magnetic fingers”.
The cat and the dog on the ground watched anxiously as Carmen made her way up. Both were wondering what they could do to assist, but it was hard to think and panic at the same time.
That cleared it up like a clear window.
Started to have problems geting over alex’s explanation for the turning into animals though…it sounded rather fakish.
Well, i understand it a lot more now than I did before. Pretty well done chapter. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Yah…TSS gets it!!!
Same here…can’t wait for next chapter to see what they’re now going to do.
Sorry for the long wait; I was waiting to hear how this spell works on WoWP, but since it still hasn’t come out yet, I’m just going to have to guess and go along with it.
Enjoy.
Part 27
Carmen scaled the wall nervously, trying to reach the top shelf. It was so strange to feel scared about something that she had done before. Maybe it was also the pressure of doing it quickly, before getting caught.
“Alex,” whispered Violet. “How hard is it to actually do spells?”
“It’s all fun and games until I get in trouble.”
“Cool. Sorry, but I can’t really get over that you’re Alex. That cat-voice you’re using makes you sound so different.”
After a while, Alex-in-Illusiaura asked, “Violet, if you’re a super, how can you not have a super name?”
Violet pondered about this. With her family, they were known as The Incredibles. But she was still an indivisual, and needed her own super name sooner or later. “I haven’t decided yet, really,” was her response. “What do you suggest?”
“Something like UltraViolet. It sounds cool that way.”
“Okay, maybe…”
They both looked up and saw the spy, on her way to the top, alone. “Wish there was something I could do,” Violet mumbled.
Suddenly the door burst open, echoing throughout the cold room. All three felt as if their heart had stopped. Carmen, up high, felt as if she were going to drop.
“AHA!” screeched a voice just like Alex’s. It was Alex’s. Into the room stomped a girl who looked just like Alex. The face, the outfit, everything resembled that wizard. But they knew it was really Illusiaura on the inside. “Who do you think you are, stealing my body like that!”
“I’m sorry, Lusie, I’ll make it up to you,” apologized Alex, using the cat’s voice.
“Isn’t that just like a human, taking advantage of us and everyone,” Illusiaura scowled with Alex’s voice. “What exactly do you plan to do in my body?”
"Did you have fun in my body?"Alex asked.
“No! In fact, I was being chased a lot by those weirdos out there.”
“Oh, I forgot about them.”
“You’ll let me back, won’t you?”
“Of course, once it’s- wait. Carmen!” the wizard in the cat’s body yelled.
Carmen nearly dropped. “What!?”
“Did the sun set yet?”
Carmen checked her watch. “It will soon, I think.” Then she contined climbing.
“Oh my gosh, we gotta act fast,” Alex said.
Carmen continued to push her way up, when suddenly, she felt her untied shoe loosen and fall, causing her to look down.
“She’s looking down!” Violet panicked.
“Ohh, that’s high. I don’t remember ever climbing this high,” Carmen said to herself dizzily. For the first time in a while, she actually felt unsure. What if these gadgets can’t help me?"
“Keep going!” encouraged Alex.
“You can do it!” added Violet.
In such a cold room, the spy could still feel sweat slipping her.
“It’s too bad she’s not a cat, then she could land on her feet,” Illusiaura said dryly.
Carmen forced herself upward until she finally made it. But how could she get all the items down? “Get ready, I’m gonna throw them down!”
She tossed as many as she could down, silently praying that the two could catch them.
Alex had turned Violet into a human again, and she was about to switch back with Illusiaura when old books and antique magical tools were falling down!
Violet luckily was able to protect them from breaking on the ground with her force fields.
Then Carmen’s gadgets seemed to not support her anymore and she lost her balance. She screamed as she fell from such a high height. No jetpacks, one lost rocket shoe, so it seemed she could die right now from the fall.
“Lusie, quick! Reach into your shoe. Well, my shoe,” Alex ordered.
“Why?” Illusiaura snapped, uncaring.
“JUST DO IT!” Alex and Violet shouted.
Illusiaura reached her- well, Alex’s- hand into her shoe and pulled out a wand.
“Now wave it and say, ‘Havity-no-gravity’. Hurry!”
Illusiaura rolled her (Alex’s) eyes and did so. The wand, pointed at Carmen, had saved the spy. Carmen was temporarily unaffected by gravity, and just by touching the wall, was just a few inches from the ground.
“Thank you,” she gasped, heartbeat pacing really fast from the startling fall. “It’s almost sundown, FYI,” she said as she safely returned to the ground.
“But why is sundown so important?” Violet asked. She didn’t know whether to face Alex’s face or the cat’s, because she was still confused of who’s who.
“Because I don’t want to have a tail forever,” Alex replied.
Quickly, she said, “Alex, Illusiaura, Cambea Koporum Mia-Kapora, Suanumanavi!”
In an instant, there was a flash between the cat and the girl.
“Did it work?” wondered Violet.
“Finally,” grumbled the cat. “You didn’t ruin my shiny fur coat, did you? Or break my claws? Is my tail still pointed?”
“Ugh, it’s so nice to be out of that really hot fur,” Alex said, feeling her own body again.
“Yep, it worked,” Carmen said.
They packed up as many of the mysterious found objects as they could into Carmen’s stretched backback. “Isn’t that too much weight for you?” Alex inquired.
Carmen tried to put it on her back, and it weighed her down enough to tip over. “Well what do you suggest?”
Illusiaura, in the middle of licking herself clean, ambled over to the corner of the room where there was a rolled up dusty carpet.
“Flying carpet!” Violet grinned at the idea.
They unrolled the carpet, dusted it off, and placed the heavy backpack on it.
“We just need to drag it outside,” Alex said.
Suddenly, Ms. Gradenko appeared at the doorway. “Going somewhere?” she asked. “You little brats spoil everything. I’m going to keep you here if that’s the only way to stop you.”
Vi, without much thought, took off the rubber band on her wrist and aimed it at the cat to catch her attention. When the rubber band hit her, Illusiaura turned to face the woman. Then, her eyes showed anger- no, fury. The black cat did not like people like this one bit. It was people like Gradenko who had kept her, a rare, beautiful, magical cat, captive, and put ownership marks on her. It was because of people like Gradenko that she was separated from her mate. She couldn’t take it anymore.
The cat attacked Gradenko furiously. Yowling and scratching, the ferocious feline showed no mercy.
The three girls didn’t find it a pretty sight at all, but at least the cat was helping.
Alex rushed over to and old broom on the floor, and groaned, "Ugh, I feel so old-fashioned.’
The wizard used the broom to fly up to the window over the door. Gradenko’s sharp fingernails reached in her direction and tried to throw her off balance. Alex quickly dodged it and made it through.
“Just you wait!” screamed the villainous woman. “I’ll get you, and your lives will be put to the test!!!”
Violet levitated the carpet as much as she could, struggling to hold up its weight in the air, and Carmen helped with one big push, throwing it through the window.
Carmen found her rocket shoe and put it on. Then she rocketed up through the window as an escape.
It wasn’t over yet. The guards were still there, (some of them that used to work for Syndrome, as Violet remembered) but Alex beat them with the broom. I feel like those old ladies beating up rats, now.
Carmen beat as many as she could. Then, unexplainably, some guards fell over something like an invisible force.
“Violet? Where’s Violet?” Alex said.
“I’m right here,” said Violet as she reappeared. “And you can call me UltraViolet now.”
They spent some time fighting over the guards, but quickly lost strength. When she stumbled to the floor, she called out “Mcreary Timereary!” and reversed time by a couple of seconds until she was back on her feet. Still, she lost more strengh. So Alex told the other two: “I suggest you put your hands on your heads like this.”
Then she shouted, “Cranium-revolvus!”
The guards’ heads spun uncontrollably around, and the three got their chance to run away.
When they seemed to catch up, Alex quickly froze time with the time-freezing spell, hopping on one foot (which was a rule of magic when one wanted to use that spell, because its inventor only had one foot) toward Illusiaura, who happened to be sitting in the corner of the exit. She seemed unaffected by the spell.
“Psst, here kitty kitty kitty, before I lose my balance.”
Illusiaura turned her head. “You don’t have to whisper. I’m right here.”
“Pounce on those guards while we run for our lives, okay?”
“Sure.”
“And Illusiaura,” Alex added.
“What?”
“Thanks.”
“No problem. Just don’t switch bodies with me again, okay?”
Alex lost her balance and fell, then hurried away to join the other two.
“What did you do?” UltraViolet asked.
“I froze time, and got the cat to help us out one more time.”
They continued on without looking back, dragging the carpet away speedily, backpack on top.
They made their escape out, dragging the flying carpet out with Carmen’s backpack on it.
“It’s hopefully still in good condition,” said Alex.
“What about Ms. Gradenko, and all the others in there?” asked UltraViolet. “Sooner or later, after they heal, they’ll be after others or us again.”
“Well, my mission’s complete, anyway. I was supposed to turn the island glitches back to normal, and I did it,” shrugged Carmen. “How she did it or what she could gain from it, I’ll never know. But I think the rest should be left up to more experienced spies than me. There’s some stuff about some people we can never fully figure out.”
“Can you drive the magic carpet?” the super asked Alex.
“Yeah, I hope.”
They went on the carpet and Alex’s hands gripped the front edge of the carpet shakily. "I’m just a little nervous,’ she admitted.
“I think we all were nervous at some point today,” said Carmen.
“But it was fun,” the super added. “I never even knew I could levitate with my force fields. And what other super could say that they were a dog, even for a little while?”
Alex smiled, then concentrated on starting the magic carptet. She took a deep breath and started its power. “Carmen, you got helmets in there?”
“Yeah.”
“Just checking.”
Soon, she found herself driving the carpet over the air smoothly. She said, “You know, this was also a great practice. I got to practice my spells, and this was the first time I turned someone back into a human without anything going wrong with the transformation spell.”
“What are we going to do once we get back to the wizard camp?” Carmen asked.
“I don’t know, but I know we’re in trouble,” sighed UltraViolet.
“Well, I could handle it. You guys shouldn’t be punished,” said Alex.
“Eyes on the road!- er, sky,” shouted Carmen.
“I got this,” Alex replied.
Steadily, the threesome rode the flying carpet all the way to the camp. The sky was getting dark, and the moon was already hanging brightly in the sky. The stars were hardly visible, and the misty clouds felt nice and cool with the cool evening air.
Well, thought Alex, it wasn’t exactly how I thought going to camp would be like, but it sure was amazing enough.
I never imagined I’d have to team up with strangers, but now I’ve made some new friends, thought Carmen.
I didn’t think I’d be fighting bad guys without my family so soon, but I guess we make a great team. A fantastic team. Too bad it’s temporary, thought Violet.
This was an adventure not to be forgotten. It was magical, it was super, and it had remained a secret among them.
All they had to do was come up with an explanation to tell when they returned.
What an amazing sotry. THat last chapter had me glued to my screen until the last word! Very, exceptional job. I love it so much. It is one of my all time favorites on Pixar Planet. HOpe you can write more.
PS: I don’t like Violet’s super name “Ultraviolet”. A general rule for supers is that their supername should have no match with their real name.
I couldn’t really think of anything else. I wanted to come up with something that hasn’t been used by anyone else yet. And UltraViolet (invisible light) just seemed to fit, despite the real name in it.
Well, I know it is hard to come up names for her when so much has been used, but it’s your story. I’m just voicing my thoughts.
Well, anyway, I’m really really glad that you enjoyed it.
And brief epilogue coming up once Al-Bob reads it.
I just read it and it really gripped me. It was well done with action, suspence, and good all cat fighting…well done.
Congratulations!!!
Thanks to you both for reading it.
Any suggestions on how I could adjust Vi’s super name so that it doesn’t lose the meaning, but also doesn’t include her real name?
Well i had the same problem but i think you suggested Invisiforce to me right?
that was good…other names i came up with were…Invisigirl…that might work. Did you use something like that TSS?
Well, not that I have anything against those names, but I wanted to use something that no one else was using.
Invisigirl is good, but I think it’s just too popularly used (no offense, TSS)
Invisiforce, I’m glad it came up, but like I said, I wanted to use something that is, like more for my use. I’ve been trying to choose between Invisiforce and Ultraviolet. And when you asked for a suggestion, Al-Bob, I thought that that way I could narrow down my choices. (Hope I didn’t sound selfish )
UltraViolet, meaning “invisible light” seemed just perfect. But is there another word with a similar meaning? I dont’ want to use her real name in it.
Not offense taken by your selfishness i persnonally believe that UltraViolet was great…i do see how using Violet could be a problem but you vould just say that nobody knows about her real name being Violet.
Sorry for the long delay, guys. I haven’t been in a fanfiction mood for a while, but now it’s back.
Epilogue
The trio’s descent was a bit rough and bumpy, but Vi kept them from smashing to the ground. When they landed on the ground, they slowly approached the camp, hesistant. “What are we going to do? Saved the island and we’re still gonna be toast,” groaned Carmen.
“I’ll handle it,” promised Alex. “Unless you have a device that erases everyone’s memories, 'cause I’ll use that.”
“No, sorry. It’s too dangerous and advanced for my level,” said Carmen.
“You three!” shrieked a voice that almost knocked them down. It was one of the consolers. “Just where have you been? You are going to stay here much longer and have harsher training for running away!”
“Violet and Carmen didn’t do anything, it was all my fault,” Alex said, standing in front of the two. “They had special training that saved my life. I tend to…sleepwalk, and I got lost when I woke up, so they went to rescue me. And, we had some trouble getting back, because I delayed them. So, if anyone’s getting punished, it’ll be me. Please don’t blame them for something they didn’t do.”
The consoler eyed them sternly. “You three are never to run away again, is that understood? You are still not excused from this. We’ll talk about this in the morning.”
That night, in their cabins, the trio had a worried conversation.
“Do you think the consoler bought your explanation, Alex?” asked Vi.
“Yes, if she gets zapped by a ‘I’ll-believe-anything’ ray,” Alex sighed. “Well, at least you two can leave. I get in trouble all the time. It’s no big deal, it always gets fixed up.”
“Well, this wizard camp thing sounds interesting. Would it be okay for me to stay?” mumbled Carmen.
“What?” Alex asked, surprised.
Suddenly, Violet’s homing device on her suit glowed and beeped. Then, a muffled ringtone began.
Confused, Carmen reached into her backpack, fumbling through the heavy objects in it, and in the smallest pocket pulled out her cell phone. She read the caller I.D. “‘Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl?’ Must be your parents, Vi.”
Violet, dumbfounded, reached for the phone and stuttered, “Hello? Mom? Dad?”
“Oh, Violet, we were so worried about you!” her parents gasped with relief.
“How did you-?”
“How we got the number? Oh, that doesn’t matter, honey. What matters is that you’re all right.”
“Why didn’t you track me down earlier?” Violet cried.
“We tried countless times, but somehow it didn’t work.”
“Oh.” The island glitches.
“We’re gonna come by to pick you up soon, all right sweetie? Everything will be all right, Violet.”
“Actually, Mom, Dad, I’ve had an amazing experiece on this new island. And, would it be all right if I actually stayed here for a little bit?” Violet asked.
“What? Are you sure you’ll be all right? Don’t you want us to come?”
“I’ll be fine. In fact, excellent. I’ve made some new friends that helped me survive, and I think I should pay back the favor.”
After a while, when her parents allowed her to stay a little longer, she grinned, said “Love you, too” and hung up.
Alex just stared.
“I hope you don’t mind if I stay a little while. I swear not to share your secrets with anyone else. If I disappeared without a trace, you’d be blamed, Alex, because we had some bad fights at the start,” said Violet.
“I’d like to stay too. I need a little break from spy work all the time,” added Carmen.
“But how are you guys going to pass off as wizards?” Alex asked.
“We’ll manage,” answered Violet.
“With my help, you might,” shrugged Alex. “If you’re okay with me testing on you every once in a while.”
After the days passed and Wizard Camp was over, Alex had learned better skills with magic, with extra practice. She couldn’t wait to show off to her brother Justin.
As for Carmen, she eventually had to go back to the OSS and show the items found to the agency. She told every detail of the adventure except the parts with magic and superheroes. As much as she hated to take all the credit, it was to keep her friends’ secrets safe. She got a checkup and several shots and tests to make sure she was still in good condition after all the danger. She got plenty of attention and questions from other spy kids, but her answers remained as cooly discreet as possible. The spy kid also got into a little quarrel with Juni for sneaking R.A.L.P.H. out at the last minute.
Later, older and more experienced adult spies were sent out to finish the job with Ms. Gradenko. They still hadn’t returned yet.
Meanwhile, Violet went home practicing her new technique of “levitating”, usually on Dash to baffle him. She chose her new superhero name to be Ultraviolet, though she and her family still had to question whether or not the name wasn’t discreet enough.
Violet’s boyfriend, Tony, turned out to have a cat named Konst Anjo. “Why does that name sound familiar?” she mused. “And, the funny thing is,” Tony told her, “there’s this stray black cat that keeps visiting us.” Then Vi got it. Good for Illusiaura. There’s her happy ending.
Though it was way too risky for the OSS, NSA, and the magical world to combine, the three kept contact. They planned that one day, if they were to get together again (as normal teens), they could all pull pranks on their brothers.
So, that’s how Violet “Ultraviolet Incredible” Parr, Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Costa-Brava Cortez, and Alexandra Margarita Russo started as suspicious enemies and became a trio of friends.
