Sweeney Todd (spoilers)

Did anybody else see it yet? I thought it was very good. The only reason it was rated R was because of all that blood… which wasn’t even that bad, after all, blood isn’t my favorite thing to see…

The ending always upsets me a bit, but that’s how things are…

What’s the movie about? I only know that it’s a musical.

I’m dying to see it because of the people in it, because it’s Tim Burton, and because it’s a musical.

Hopefully I’ll see it when the christmas crowds die down … :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t think it’s out yet here, but when it does come out, I’m definitely gonna go and see it. Even though I’m not a big fan of Johnny Depp, it looks like he’s going to be amazing in this film.

DisneyDreamer: It’s about a barber who decides to get revenge on a judge who sent him to jail, raped his wife, and holds his daughter in a locked room…

FONY: I actually went the second day, and there weren’t as many people in there when I went, but it was about 1:30pm

lizardgirl: I really don’t like Johnny Depp (he kind of scares me), but I have to say, he did wonderfully in this movie. I’m not surprised him and the actress who plays Mrs.Lovett are nomnated for golden globes… so is Tim burton

NO SPOILERS IN MY POST!!

I’ve seen the theatrical version… so I knew my opinion after watching the film would be biased… but I actually enjoyed the film. The vocals are mediocre, but that’s expected since most of the cast are not vocally trained. The scenery and tone makes up for it, and I’m glad they kept all the songs (except for the intro song, sadly… they turned that into an instrumental… possibly to make it seem more like a movie than a play).

The blood… oooh, there’s a lot of blood, so those with weak stomachs, brace yourself. However, it’s done in an artistic, exaggerated way (like Kill Bill), so even I (who needs to be dragged into an R film before seeing it, heh) could stand it.

The ending is sad, but the very last scene is absolutely beautiful. If you can stand the violence (and are ready to hear lots of singing, cause this is a FULL musical, hehe) then I definitely recommend Sweeny Todd.

I saw this movie today and I loved it!
The actors in this movie are wonderful, truly artistic actors and Tim Burton… is Tim Burton so he’s just amazing and perfect for this movie.
The acting and the cinematography was excellent. The music integration was good and Johnny Depp has a really interesting voice- I liked it a lot. Helena Bonham Carter is not much of a singer but it was hard to tell if she was consistently flat or if the music was just written that way…

A very interesting film.

Heh, I haven’t been on here in a while, and I know nobody’s posted on this topic since December, but I thought I’d post anyway

I went for the midnight showing with a friend, and I loved it! The sets were beautiful. I thought they almost looked like paintings. I was also impressed that a lot of the actors in the film weren’t professional singers, but they still did a great job.

I didn’t think the blood was that horrible, either. In fact, I didn’t cringe once the entire time I was watching it. Heh, I expected I would when I went to see it… but yeah, it wasn’t really that scary at all. I guess to some people it might be, but I didn’t think so, and neither did a lot of people I’ve talked to.

Way to go, Tim!
