Syndrome

What do you like about Syndrome ?

I like him as a villian, but I was thinking earlier, the reason he failed is because he hasn’t at all

developed since he was a kid. He’s still so desperate to ‘prove’ himself, to show off and be better than

anyone else. He’s an absolute genius, but he doesn’t think that compares to being a superhero.

All of

his plans had to be on a huge scale, it’s as if he’s over-compensating. There’s Nomanisan itself, there’s

his jet rockets, there’s the massive Omnidroid, there’s even his escape with Jack-Jack at the end, he blew a

hole through the roof for goodness sake! The family were immobilised, he could have just used the door!

Not to mention all the time he spends monologing! It’s as if he really needs to prove he’s better than

everyone else with all these grand-scale gestures – but that’s what I like about him! You can understand

his personality and his motives, it’s what makes him a little less like a cat-stroking 2D James Bond villian,

and more of a character.

And that’s the one thing that

practically all of the other main characters in the film had done- they’d matured, and he hadn’t, and this was

his downfall.

Quite true,

but Buddy’s REAL downfall, I think, came from failure to realize the value in HIS powers-the powers of

creativity and intellect, and to take Bob’s word that those did not count. If he was so determined to prove Bob

wrong, he could very well have made himself into a real hero just by using his brilliant intellectual abilities,

but imprisoned in the mind-set of a 10-year-old child, those abilities were, for the most part, wasted. Such a

shame, really.

I have pondered on this for some time. But The Omnidroid that defeated Mr. Incredible

was the Version 09 right? The one that attacked Metroville for Operation Kronos was Version 10. Why not send the

09 version? Syndrome would likely win the battle against the Omnidroid.

(I got this out of "The

Essential Guide to the Incredibles"

Maybe, since he would have complete control of the Omnidroid either way, then it would’nt matter how easily he

could beat it, since he would always be able to beat it with his controls. What mattered was whether it could

defeat all of the other superheroes, making Syndrome seem even more amazing.

The only Supers Syndrome lured back to Nomanisan to fight

the Omnidroid would have been the Supers like Bob, who kept using their powers in public to save the day.

(Helen’s location was completely unknown to Syndrome, and there would have been hundreds of other Supers who,

like her, laid low.) But the second a giant robot starts smashing up the city, the Supers would likely have come

out in force, so I imagine Syndrome needed to know that the Omnidroid was too powerful for them.
I do think

it’s a bit strange that if version nine was enough to defeat Mr. Incredible (who is the epitome of all Supers in

Buddy’s twisted little mind… and also in mine), that that wasn’t the one he sent out. But I think it speaks

volumes about Syndrome’s character that he didn’t. It was good enough, but he still wanted it to be better.

Exactly, that’s a very good point! And since he had all of the resources necessary to do so, then why

shouldn’t he? That whole project must’ve taken up a lot of his time and effort, so he was so desperate for it

not to fail that he would’ve taken further steps to ensure that it went according to plan.

So the lesson is, "Never count your chickens before

they hatch". In this case “never count your fans until you defeated the robot”.

Sndrome watched Mr. Incredible defeat an Omnidroid on Mr. Incredible’s first journey

on Nomanisan right? If the robot was really that smart, and if Syndrome knew that in the first place, couldn’t

he do the same thing that Mr. Incredible did in the volcano?

Syndrome was probably caught up in his fantasy of being a

“hero”, he kind of forgot that the robot was a learning robot.

Well, he is a cross

between a comical villain that everyone can enjoy and laugh at, at the same time, he is portrayed as a dangerous

antagonist who will do anything to get what he wants, even if it means killing off other Supers.

Yeah, just when one

begins to laugh at him, he’ll do something that scares you.

My favorite line from him is “And got. . . BIZZAY!!!” So funny. I stopped

laughing as soon as Syndrome left the family.

Wow… My Syndrome fandom. Wonder what ever happened to that…Sighs

Eh what am i

saying?! I still love the dude XP Just not obsessing over him as much anymore. Eh…well we all love on. But i

still do remember all his lines and whatnot. lol. Syndrome is still kool.

He creeps

out the kids. But then again, what super villain doesn’t these days?

If Syndrome wasn’t the original

villain of the Incredibles, I wonder. Would people still adore him?

Heh…It depends. Knowing

me i might… I’m a tough person. lol

Syndrome is still awesome!! of

course he is!
