khstar: I disagree. PATF had way too much hype. The Disney channel promos were out by June and Disney had long series’ on both DC and ABC hyping the movie. Almost every song was released on the internet. It almost felt like you had already seen half the movie.
I missed most of that thankfully, almost all of the film felt new to me when I eventually watched it on blu ray.
And just incase anyone wants to watch what TangledUpInDisney posted on youtube, the link for it is here: youtube.com/watch?v=zV1pPsji7BQ
If you ask me, this is probably one of the most creative, endearing and memorable piece of marketing Disney’s ever done (at least, in my opinion). Bravo, Disney!
I found two other new promo vids! Here’s an interview with Mandy Moore AND Zachary Levi, and here’s another new featurette that was just released. Enjoy!
That’s brilliant! I like the old-fashioned orchestral music! Rapunzel looks so cute at 00:59 and Maximus so freaky at 1:02.
Maybe it’s better to be… grounded for life!
I also love the Sidekicks Featurette, especially at 0:20 (awww), and 2:23 (I’m very curious what’s the secret behind that phenomenon). And it’s nice to see Mr Hawaiian Shirt put in a good word for it.
A Trailer 3 has been released the day before yesterday, but it’s just a re-editing of footage we’ve seen before (if you’ve been keeping up with all the clips). Still, it’s nice to hear some instrumentals (the beginning, especially, was beautiful), although it later returned to another contemporary ‘rock-music-cool’ beat from 0:25. Would it hurt to have some epic trailer music or a ‘taster’ of the soundtrack?
Also, ATTENTION to fans who live in LA! I read The Los Angeles Times in my library today and saw an ad for The Envelope Screening Series. The Tangled session has Mandy Moore and composer Alan Menken as guest speakers, and it’s at 7:30 pm, November 10th, Landmark Theatres at Westwood Blvd. So for you lucky American Tangled fans, you might wanna RSVP yourselves a FREE seat at the preview screening while there are still ones available (The one for Toy Story 3 sold out, incidentally!).
^I really wish I could have gone to the preview screening. D: Sucks I live in Canada.
Anyway, if you guys check disney.go.com/index right now, there is a scene with Rapunzel, Maximus and Flynn uploaded, and it’s straight from the movie too! Enjoy!
That preview screening at the Landmark is by my house. And I’m off on Wednesday.
Lucky duck you! Have fun!
Aw, I loved that scene! Man, I just NEED to see this movie! The animation is gorgeous.
Right after the scene, though, the promo for Tron came up with Olivia Wilde. I was like “HOLY @#$#(*&^ ITS THIRTEEN!”
Guess she really wasn’t going to Rome for her Huntingtons.
You know, if you watch less cable, less of fewer movies get spoiled.
What a great piece of advertising! I liked it a lot.
I don’t watch all that much cable. I just use the internet a lot.
And eh, I like spoilers. Why else would I watch every one that every person posted?
Can I cry while I stare at my woefully out-of-date localisation page? Please upload this on the official Tangled site, Disney!
Cool! Tickets are apparently free, so the only thing you’ll be spending is your time! If you do go, it’ll be really cool if you let us know what you thought of it!
I just watched the second 10 Questions in 60 seconds. Some interesting things I learnt:
-
Flynn’s partners-in-crime are called the [spoil]Stabbington Brothers[/spoil]. Charming.
-
Descending with your hands sliding down the hair is not climbing, Zach and Mandy. It’s fast-roping. Or should I say fast-hairing?
-
A little rebellion and a little adventure is good.
I just meant for people who hate spoilers. And I hate TV, and was pushing my opinion on you guys. Sorry.
Fair and balanced review; I am disappointed to hear about the dimmer 3D lighting and the ‘Americanisation’ and ‘modernifications’, but I think it’ll be a fun ride with touches of emotional moments like Despicable Me.
That’s a well written review, I like ones that dont’ give out too much detail. I like his mention of shampoo commericials, heehee!
Oh ya that is true cause i looked up the music myself YD but i hardly ever turn it to Disney Channel
Its easy for a movie to get spoiled for me -.- i usually figure things out WAY to fast ^^‘’ I even stop reading books because i ruin them for myself =_= i try not to speed read but if my finger brushes the side of the pages and i just Happen to see some words OOPS YDD
You can now watch “Reluctant Alliance”, the clip Danachii mentioned awhile back, on the official DisneyAnimation channel!
I love the antagonistic relationship between Flynn and Maximus, and how Pascal simultaneously warns both of them! And the little girls gasping in delight at the end is so funny!
I love that clip! It’s so funny how Maximus is more like a dog than a horse. Also, when Pascal is like “I’m watching you” and growling hahaha! That’s an adorable animal guardian to have around.
Man, I keep getting more and more excited for this! I have a feeling Pascal’s gonna be my fave character in this film.
I also listened to the Healing Incantation song, short as it is, and it is beautiful! Amazing, a bit mysterious, too. Love it!!
And the duet I See the Light is also beautiful, too. Not exactly as good as A Whole New World or Can You Feel the Love Tonight, but it still has that really sweet, truly romantic feeling in it.
I also watched all the “Wanted” TV spots and they are awesome! I remember I first saw them on Youtube reaaaallly late at night, saying I’ll watch them and then go to bed…then I got too excited and watched them over and over again.
I really hope the Disney Club at my school gets to all go watch it!
(I’m so happy my friend started a Disney Club successfully- and also relieved that at least some guys proudly appreciate movies with princesses or fairy tales in them. I can’t tell you how hard it is to bring up a conversation in person with most guys around here about Beauty and the Beast or The Little Mermaid. I remember hearing one guy whose favorite movie was Beauty and the Beast get made fun of behind his back because apparently he was “hot” or whatever and that was his only flaw. )
P.S. Anyone notice that in the first Disney Renaissance, the heroine/princesses were stronger, more self-sufficient, and what’s changed in this Disney Renaissance II is that the princes start out full of themselves, braggy, and consider themselves irresistably charming and able to get away with anything (Edward, Naveen, and now Flynn). Interesting, huh?
Wow, I wish I had a Disney Club at my uni!
That’s post-modern films for you.
From the HellYeahTangled Tumblr blog:
Thought this is pretty funny:
I think I saw this on dA, so if anyone has seen it and remembers the original creator, do let us know!
Is this taken from a Disney Channel ident or something?
Pascal does his best vampire impression!
And of course, the infamous Bed Intruder song done Tangled-style (PG).
