Righto, and he is quite attractive (but not as attractive as Prince Naveen! IMO, at least )
Yeh…he dosen’t have the accent …sigh
I love Naveen <3 No one will ever replace him
I’m so excited! I’m seeing it tomorrow with some of my grade school friends, and then cough sneaking cough into Harry Potter. My third time to see it
OHEMGEE YOU GUYS. I’m going to see Tangled at midnight! I can not contain my excitmentt ) like seriously, I have so much adrenaline right now that I probably won’t sleep AT ALL tonight.!!
That review is considered to be positive according to Rotten Tomatoes. The movie only has 3 bad reviews on there right now and all the rest are positive!
I guess you’re right, but the whole Barbie and Ken comparison was still off-putting for me.
Anyways, I’m putting this thread on my block list on firefox for now until I see the film this weekend (I don’t want any online spoilers ruining the film for me!). I’m going to be meeting a friend for a date this Saturday, and after we have dinner, we’re going to be heading off to our local Silvercity theater to watch Tangled. I’m so excited I can hardly wait!
Lucky! I wish I was seeing it this weekend.
Who else is going to see Tangled on opening night? Rotten Tomatoes currently registers it at 92% Fresh
Personal Opinion: I loved the movie - I thought it was adorable…so I can’t wait to hear your guys’ thoughts on it and discuss the movie more with you!
I’m going to see a 12:01 am showing tonight since I gotta cook Thanksgiving dinner, and I wanna start tomorrow with no interuptions. I almost told my mom I couldn’t do it since I wanted to see Tangled! At the time I wasn’t thinking about possible midnight showings.
Tangled reviews now up! onemoviefiveviews.wordpress.com/ … w-tangled/
Our consensus on the film was: “With beautiful animation, appealing characters and an excellent soundtrack, Tangled is Walt Disney Pictures’ 50th animated film, and it plays as a heartfelt and hilarious studio classic from beginning to end. ***1/2 (Out of 4)”
It’s lots of fun… Hope you guys all get to see it soon!

I went to the 12:01 am showing this morning. Now, I’m not good at writing reviews, and sometimes I have trouble convying my thoughts into words anybody in person or through a keyboard. So I’ll do my best. First, I wanna say that the film was beautiful! I’m going to see it again, but I’m thinking about seeing it in 2D. IMO, that’s the way this film should be seen. The 3D didn’t do anything to enhance the movie IMO. There were so many times throughout the movie when I would think about how I really wish I was seeing it without the glasses. The talented folks at Disney obviously spent a lot of time creating such beautiful visuals, it would be a shame not to fully enjoy them because those pesky glasses are diluting the colors. There were times when I knew the 3D wasn’t being used much. So I would take off the glasses and watch the movie. IMO, this is the most beautiful looking CGI ever. Maybe I’m bias because they were going for a look like The Swing painting. And that just so happens to be my favorite painting!
I read somebody’s opinion on the film when I got home. He was talking about how the animation was ok overall, with a few bright spots. Now, I haven’t really gotten into studying animation yet, but it looked amazing to me. It wasn’t stiff, and the characters movements were very realistic to me. I was constantly amazed at the little things in the characters movements and expressions. And I kept thinking about how beautiful Rapunzels hair looked throughout the film. Maybe to the untrained eye it’s amazing, while to the trained eye, it could have used to some more work. hunches shoulders
I kept reading how people thought that Maximus was the most fun character, and how he stole every scene he was in. While I thought he was enjoyable, it was Pascal who stole every scene he was in IMO. He was adorable and funny in almost everytime he was in a scene. He got the most laughs out of the audience I saw it with. Rapunzel and Flynn had great chemisty together. I especially loved it when they left the tower and started to get closer. I enjoyed Gothel. But I don’t agree with people who say that she’s the best Disney villian in years. I think Dr. Facilier was more interesting and creepy. At least with him we knew why he was doing what he did. Not that his reason was anything profound. But, I wish they would have given Gothel an interesting reason for wanting to stay young. I think it would have been cool if they could have came up with something that while you loath her for what she’s doing to Rapunzel, a part of you kind of feels sorry for her, and can even kind of have sympathic feelings towards her. But I don’t know about what goes into making these stories yet, so it could have messed up the flow. And you can only do so much in 90 minutes right?
As far as the songs go…well I thought they were servicable while I watched the movie. The only songs I really loved while watching the movie with Mother Knows Best and I’ve Got a Dream. When I listened to some of the stuff posted in the thread, it didn’t really do anything for me. I enjoyed the songs more while I watched the film. I enjoyed them enough to purchase the soundtrack when I got home. But to my suprise, other than I’ve Got a Dream, I returned to the same feelings that I had when I heard the music posted in this thread. I’ve always said that Alan Menkan was at his best when he worked with Howard Ashman. Everytime I hear Alan’s work after Aladdin, I always get sad because it’s not the same. Howard gave Alan’s music oomph IMO. I know that’s a bygone era that will never be again (until were all jammin in heaven ), but I can’t help thinking about it. I had to play the soundtrack to Beauty and the Beast after I listened to the Tangled soundtrack, for some reason. Overall, I didn’t care for the guy who wrote the lyrics. Who’s name escapes me at the moment. Maybe it’s my love for Howard that’s causing these feelings. As hard as I try, I can’t stop thinking about Howard and Alans work.
I felt that the ending was a total cop out. Why not let Flynn stay dead. To me the film would have have packed an emotional punch if he did stay dead. I saw the tear bringing him back to life coming. But this is Disney so…
I think I enjoyed PatF more than Tangled. But I think that a lot of that has to do with my love for hand-drawn animation. As much as I loved Tangled’s look, I always have and always will love hand-drawn animation more. I’m awaiting the day when it becomes just as relavent as computer animation again, when it comes to animatied movies. And I also think PatF has better music.
As much as I love Disney princess movies (and enjoyed Tangled), I hope it’s true with the TImes article said and that it’s quite some time before they return to them. Unless they really take some risk with the stories and change the formula a bit, I’ve had my fill of the formula for quite sometime with the release of Patf last year, Tangled this year and being able to revist the classics through my home dvd collection. Just like with Patf, I kept thinking about past Disney princess movies while I watched Tangled, thinking about where I had already seen certain things.
There was some other things I wanted to say (I guess I didn’t have a hard time conveying my thoughts! ), but I forgot them. It’s almost six in the morning, I’m sleepy and I gotta get up in a few and start cooking Thanksgiving dinner, so I better get some sleep. Maybe what I wanted to say will come back to me once I get some sleep. Well I hope you guys enjoy the movie!
I want to see it, but it won’t happen until the DVD release. No $. Sorry, guys.
Oh maaaaaan. I think I kind of adored every second of this movie. It took a lot for me not to simply tweet #TANGLED AAAAAAAAAAAAH! Words were hard to find, and I haven’t stopped smiling. There were times when I had some critical thoughts but over all I think it’s a terrific film and I liked all the characters. The songs I heard before today weren’t very exciting to me but in context with the film they were much much better and I’m so thankful for that.
Originally I didn’t like Rapunzel but not too far into the film I started to really enjoy her role. As for Flynn I still think he’s a blend of Tulio (DreamWorks’ The Road to El Dorado) and Naveen (PATF). But that’s okay since I love those characters… And he did have some unique qualities to him too, I won’t sell him short. He was still very entertaining and there were times where I thought he was my favorite character. I’m still unsure who is, because I liked every character and I’m having a very rough time picking a favorite. Originally I favored Pascal but his role was not as big as I was expecting, and I wasn’t expecting a lot. But honestly he was forgettable, which is sad. I’m happy to read other people didn’t think so, though. And I love the concept of Maximus, and especially that it’s acknowledge that horses don’t usually act this way. Flynn tries to ride him away like he’s just some animal that’s going to do whatever he’s asked and surprisingly the horse has a personality and is loyal to his job. Awesome.

[spoil]I honestly thought for a moment that they were going to kill him. I thought it might be later like after Rapunzel met her parents and they’d fly a lantern for him, something along those lines. Even though the tear was very very predictable I don’t mind the concept and although it’s been done a thousand times before I still don’t mind. Even if it’s not stated I’d like to say it’s a given that this was the last drop of power from the golden flower and it’s a nice conclusion to everything other than her hair simply dying out. It would have been interesting if they let him die, but I wouldn’t have liked it to happen at the point that it almost did. Not without them coming out with feelings for each other, a first kiss, and Rapunzel to be free of Gothel all together. That would have just been terrible, you can’t really bounce back from that and turn around and have a happy ending or a bitter sweet one.[/spoil]
I understand what your saying about the ending gazelle. But it would have made for a real tear jerker if she they did have that first kiss and then he died. I remeber what I wanted to say in my review. I thought Mandy did an amazing job singing. I’m not familiar with her later work. But I use to listen to her when she first came out. And I felt like that voice couldn’t carry a Disney musical like Jodi Benson or Donna Paige O’Hara. Also I’m very happy that Rapunzel didn’t become some insecure because Gothel was trying to put her down by talking about her looks.
Oh yes and SURPRISE! MUSICAL! Just as I predicted my audience was absolutely baffled. I’m really glad this was a full fledged musical movie as I was expecting but I still don’t like that Disney’s been hiding this! I can imagine people are going to be very confused and some will feel tricked. I’m reading way too into this but I’ve just been having a lot of issues with the way animation has been marketed in many aspects lately. Megamind was advertised to be so terrible poor-humor child pleaser when really it was a cleverly funny and likable film with a simple but fun story. How to Train Your Dragon was so under advertised period and yet I think it’s DreamWorks’ best film in so many years, I’m glad it didn’t really suffer from it’s lack of trying. Sure the trailers weren’t escapable in March but until then it was unheard of by anyone who didn’t know to look out for it. Tangled has been so vague. To some it might pull them in more, wondering what this film involves, but anyone else might not take the time to care. At the dinner theater I work at I’m super surprised that we have it in 2 out of 6 of our screens, considering this whole week we’ve had Harry Potter in 4 screens and before that Megamind was in 3. It’s definitely a good sign since we hardly ever do double screens (seeing as we have so few of them) so I guess we’re expecting it to do very well. I really wonder if Harry Potter will out run Tangled, just a random curiosity.
Anyway… I did love the music… and am learning every word to Rapunzel’s songs… right now… currently… via youtube… and then it’s off to the Disney store to (hopefully) by a tshirt that I can wear to work. … <3
I wish I would have known that Amazon.com had the soundtrack on sale for 3.99. I bought it off iTunes for 9.99. Something told me to check Amazon, but I already had iTunes open and on the page where they were selling the album before i left to see it. I was reading peoples opinions to the soundtrack. I wonder if everybody I went to see it with knew that it was a musical. Some of the people in the audience didn’t seem like the musical going type.
I just got back from the movie and I have to say…I LOVED IT! It was such an amazing and spectacular film!
I can’t believe Disney was hiding that it was a musical because I loved every piece of music! The advertising was misleading!
Such an awesome movie, I cried. I think this will be a movie I see over and over.
I thought that the whole death scene was handled perfectly. Flynn cut off the hair in order to save Rapunzel from a lifetime of misery and I think that’s what made him a true hero. And even though the tear thing is old, I think it was different in this film since it wasn’t just a normal tear, rather, the tear came from a girl full of mystical healing powers. The tear was part love, but it was also her last drip of power. And, yes, I would’ve loved to see her hair grow back in the end (I was thinking maybe when they kissed at the marriage, which I wished they had shown!), but I think it symbolized the sacrifice they both gave in the end.
I saw Tangled today and my theater was absolutely packed. PACKED. I loved it It gave me the shivers seeing all those people for this movie I’ve been looking forward to so much. And then there was the movie. It was so beautiful, and it was a hard-core musical. I didn’t think the people in the theater were too shocked though. I hadn’t listened to the soundtrack before today, and I was thrilled with it. I thought it was much better than TPATF soundtrack, for some reason. As much as I loved TPATF, this felt more classic Disney, and more classic fairytale. It was stunning, and I’m so happy with it. I can’t wait to grab the soundtrack tomorrow
My theater was packed too, Evangeline! I thought it was great seeing so many people enjoying a film that I wanted to see so much.
I’m so depressed. So, today, my parents surprised us by taking us to the theater. I was psyched; I thought we would see either this or MM. However, to my dismay, we saw HP7. I feel so miserable…

I thought you liked Harry Potter?
