Its so, so tempting to look at all the intense spoilers, like the graphic novel, but I still have a week before I get to see the movie with my friends!
Dang, its going to be difficult seeing Harry Potter on Wednesday knowing that Tangled is in the theater…
As hard as it is to keep away from being tempted by spoilers, the payoff of seeing the movie fresh is definitely worth it. I remember knowing the ending of Cars from flipping through a book back in '06. I always wished I had just seen the film first…
Although waiting’s hard, one week isn’t that bad - you’ll see it before you know it. It’s more difficult when you see the books hitting the shelves a month in advance, and you’re tempted to pick them up.
As for HP7: Pt. 1, it’s really good, I think once it starts, you’ll enjoy it enough to not be thinking about Tangled all the way through. They’re both worth seeing in theatres, and since you can’t watch them simultaneously, you’ve gotta see one before the other…
Asides from a few minor plot details here and there, I actually did a pretty good job of not spoiling anything major for myself. Which is surprising, considering how usually when I’m invested in a film like this I end up going crazy and before I know it, I know the whole story before seeing the movie. Therefore, I applaud myself for actually resisting major plot spoilers for Tangled.
Actually now that you mention it, I was browsing 4chan randomly yesterday until I saw a very… erm, explicit fanart of Rapunzel doing, well… something rather inappropriate to mention here. But seriously, I’m not surprised that people already started thinking of strange sexual fetishes towards Rapunzel and this movie. You know how the internet works. Rule 34 at it’s best. D:
OMG that looks so horrible. I’m so tempted to watch it just to laugh at how bad it is.
UGH, yes, that’s why I avoid 4chan. I occasionally mosey onto Encyclopedia Dramatica for some of the much funnier pages (PETA and My Immortal for example) but most of it just makes me wish brain bleach was real.
But yes, Rule 34 is a terrible truth indeed. But oh, is it a truth nonetheless.
For any of you who might have Disney channel, you might have seen this at some point, right? Anyway, it’s definitely a nice, cute little sequence (even though it’s not in the movie, lol).
This review just put me in a really bad mood, considering how I even read Armond White’s review just a couple of minutes ago, who completely bashed this movie for ridiculous reasons. sighs Seriously, I wish there was some kind of a site blocker on firefox that would allow me to block out negative reviews for movies that I deeply care about. I guess I’m just too sensitive most of the time. :\
EDIT; On a more positive note, I got my copy of the soundtrack as well as the art of book today. Does anybody want me to post some scans from the book here?
Chiming in (late) to agree with you all about the Japanese trailer being better. Far more relaxed and atmospheric. Brings back the magical feeling of 90s Disney. Wait, March 2011?! Ah, I pity those guys.
I’m sorry if it put you in a bad mood, that wasn’t my intention! I guess I got a different impression from it, I didn’t find it too negative. But dont’ worry about Armond White’s review. He’s not the best critic in my opinion. Any man who says that Norbit is a better movie than WALL-E is out of his mind.
That review is considered to be positive according to Rotten Tomatoes. The movie only has 3 bad reviews on there right now and all the rest are positive!
I can’t contain excitement from this coming out tomorrow! Granted I’m not going to be seeing it on opening day, but me and a best friend might try pushing to see it all together like we did last year with The Princess and the Frog.
