Tangled

See but your complaints seem well thought out and legitimate, rather than just “Up was awful because it wasn’t zany enough”. You views seem the opposite where you think its all a bit too unbelievable.

-shrugs-. I can’t say I hated absolutely everything in the movie but yeah, it’s actually my least favourite Pixar movie. Maybe it’s because Up treads that weird line where it has some zaniness but you… kind of suspect it to make more sense at the same time but it doesn’t go far enough in either direction- so in the end it’s in kind of a strange place? I mean I guess a part of it is because Up’s world at first seemed to be the Pixar world which would make the most sense but it ended up breaking its own rules all the same. See I can pretend to believe in magic in a story for a short time even if I don’t believe its real in the real world, but say if the world itself has its own specific rules established or inferred and then breaks them with no explanation it kind of baffles me.

(Like the fact that while the dogs could talk they had the mentality of dogs all the same nand the same ability to get ever so distracted- it seemed fine then if odd- but then…but do you know many dogs with a normal dog mentality, which could fly a small airplane with complex manoevers? That’s where they utterly lost me. I mean most humans would have problems doing that.)

But I did have some definite problems with Up which means I can’t really rate it as something I’m keen on compared to the others (and I’d pick every other Pixar movie to watch before watching it). Sure if I was babysitting someone I would hardly gorge out my eyes if the kid/s wanted to watch it and it was their favourite or something. I mean it’s not exactly like I hate it with the fire of a thousand suns and will melt if I am even in the same room as the DVD case, and I can concentrate on the parts I like instead. If it was a friend though I’d suggest watching something else generally and admit to the fact I preferred others (but if they were really really desperate we’d watch it.)).

I understand what you’re saying, MG. That makes sense. But L-o-F made no sense whatsoever.

Anywho, I love this movie!!! I got a Rapunzel doll for Christmas, and now I love it even more. This is nw my 2nd favorite Disney movie.

What’s the first?

^Beauty and the Beast. But I like all Disney movies. That I’ve seen, anyway. 8D

Alrighty then. I finally saw Tangled and I didn’t cry.

I’M LYING!

I cried, I really did, but alas! It truly is a marvelous movie, Disney have outdone themselves. It’s amazing, everything shows perfection. Over-reacting? Man! How they managed to animate Rapunzel’s hair is just insane! Insane in a good way, of course. The characters were great and likable as well. I liked Flynn, to be honest, he’s my favorite character, teehee, and I was all like “Oh. No. She. DIDN’T.” when [spoil]Mother Gothel stabbed him. Oh my goodness. And that was when I wept like a baby. I was so glad he got better later on.[/spoil] The film had some really powerful scenes and stuff, and I wouldn’t call it a kids’ movie at ALL! Even though it has some funny humorous parts. The humor, too, is very good. I would’ve thought Disney would stray into Shrek-territory, but they didn’t and they’re awesome for that. So, in short, Tangled is a great film. Saaaaaaaaaay, it may as well be one of my favorite movies now. I dunno why…

Thank you Disney, for yet another masterpiece. A truly memorable experience and a great 50th Disney Animated Feature. I wish more movies were like this.

And also, all hail the almighty Frying Pan. I knew Conker was way ahead of his time. ;-p

so glad you liked it Badger, I personally loved every part of it, and after watching it 3 times in theaters, it has grown even more in me, I don’t like princess, musicals or fairytales, but this one is the exception (also like the Beauty and the Beast), definetely the best disney animated film in the past decade…

Ooh, glad to hear you loved it Badger! I really blew away all my expectations.

I cried too. I have a question, though. [spoil]We saw how the brown sliver of hair from Punz’s hair from her babyhood. Would her entire hair stay short like that forever after Flynn cut it?[/spoil] That bothers me for some reason. :frowning:

I highly doubt that it will stay short. Hair grows naturalally. It just might take a little (or a lot of) time for it to grow to what most ladies consider is long.

it won’t grow, first, remember at the beginning of the film, [spoil]Mother Gothel cuts a tuft of hair, then in a part of the film when Flynn is injured on his hand, Rapunzel shows him her hair power, in that scene we can clearly see that it stayed short, didn’t grow[/spoil]

Exactly. I was referring to what Bryan said. [spoil]That sliver stayed short forever, and my point was, will all of her hair do that now.[/spoil]

Unfortunately, [spoil]it’ll probably never get to grow again. It’d definitely be awful if someone tried to cut it all off as an April Fool’s prank[/spoil] :open_mouth:

I like her both ways, as a blonde and a brunette. She’s very pretty, and she works both styles well! Her short hair is perfect though for her new role as Princess and eventual Queen. It’s low maitenence so that’s nice. Also, Flynn likes Brunettes!

No, I like her hair [spoil]brown[/spoil] as well. It was the freakish shortness that troubles me. [spoil]It’s even shorter than Elastagirl’s feathered up-do.[/spoil]

Personally, I like Rapunzel as both a blonde and a brunette. but I love her with longer hair though.

^ You may want to put spoiler tags around that, just to be careful.

I know. Everyone keeps mentioning the [spoil]color change[/spoil] without spoilers! Do we have no members who haven’t seen it? We can’t do that w/o spoilers until the DVD release. :frowning:

[spoil]But I like her with both colors too. But I would prefer it long no matter which color it was. But you didn’t answer me. I was asking if it would grow back, or stay short like the baby sliver.[/spoil]

Is there no commentary track on the Blu-Ray, or am I just too stupid to find it? (I got the 2-disc Blu-Ray/DVD today.) I can’t believe they wouldn’t do the usual directors’ commentary, but I sure don’t see an option for it.

I wonder what’s with Disney’s lousy Blu-ray releases of their recent animated movies. If it ain’t a Diamond edition release, the extra’s aren’t that great IMO.
