An interesting tidbit that many people have pointed out that I am now going to put in spoiler tags in case y’all didn’t want to think about it…because trust me, you will never be able to hear the song the same way again.
[spoil]Its been pointed out that the lyrics sound strikingly similar to if Rapunzel was about to give him something else, if you know what I mean, and was being advised not to by her mother. Especially the lines you posted.[/spoil]
True that. I’m helping out with a middle school production of Mulan Jr as the “High School Assistant” (read: Actual director because the so called “adult” is far too incompetent) and I had to tell the boys that they needed to look into the real meaning of “A Girl Worth Fighting For” to truly act it out, especially lines such as “you can guess what we’ve missed the most when we go off to war.”
“So waitress, it seems we are going to be out here for a while. What do you say we get…com-for-tab-le?” XD
The best part of animated films for the truely young at heart are the innuendos. Just kidding, not for me at least. But they are fun to point out and enjoy. XD
Yeah, my friends and I sometimes make mildly dirty jokes. XD
But what I was referring to was when kids movies start making innuendos that, while the kids may not get them, are so dirty I feel uncomfortable watching it. Casein point: The live action Cat in the Hat.
Heheh, I never really caught that about “A Girl Worth Fighting For”. The thought may have crossed my mind with Mother Knows Best, and maybe it is vaguely implied, but I think it’s just a broad warning about the outside world in general.
Took Tangled to a party a week ago, btw. This is a tough, Disney-disliking (hate is too strong) crowd, and yet everyone but maybe one or two people liked it. Although someone remarked “Good, but not as good as the hype made it up to me”. Am I the only one who felt like there wasn’t that much hype to begin with…?
Yeah, really. Nobody IRL or on TV talked about it at all. Maybe the people at the party are overly cynical. How can you strongly dislike Disney in general?
I don’t know exactly; they’re the kind who nitpick every detail of the movie while watching it. Disney (minus Pixar) is just too “feminine” for them, and they dislike musicals, and fairy tales. Typical. I am glad I got them to like Tangled, though.
Disney is pretty feminine in the marketing area, but even the Disney Princess movies have things boys can enjoy. And hasn’t anyone seen Tarzan? Hercules? Hunchback, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Peter Pan, ALADDIN? There are boy movies in there. People just focus too much on the merchandise, and not the actual movies.
Anyway, yeah. I get very annoyed with people making generalizations like that. That’s like saying that since Pixar made Cars and The Incredibles, they are a masculine company. See what I mean? Just…ugh.
Anyway, I watched this again yesterday. I’m severely addicted to this movie. And out of the 5 original songs and the credit song, my favorite is either I’ve got a dream or Something that I want. This is the first time in a Disney movie where I’ve liked the credits song AT ALL. It’s a Sunday miracle!!
But I have one question. I keep seeing that Tangled has 4 songs. Does the Flower Incantation song not count? The credits count it, but now I’m just confused.
There is no such thing as boy movies and girl movies, or there shouldn’t be at least. That’s one of the things I like about Pixar (and usually Disney), they make some of the only movies that my whole family can watch and enjoy equally.
That’s what I mean. Saying Disney is feminine just because they have some movies featuring female protagonists is as silly as saying Pixar is bad for girls because Bob or Woody or Nemo are boys.
I just came reading on a latin spanish disney blog that Disney is making a Tangled Short Film, that will probably be showed next year, will this be true???
