Tangled

Badger: Hidden meanings like…?

TSS: Why didn’t I think of that? I didn’t even realize she was practically barefeet throughout the whole movie! Maybe cos’ she never needs to leave the tower? Westerners tend to wear their shoes indoors (and I know some who even wear it into bed!), but most Asian cultures would leave their shoes outside the house so as to not dirty the carpet or floor.

IV: That’s a great thought on the hair symbolism. I guess Flynn sort of taught her to ‘grow up’ and mature both in a worldly sense as well as the romantic one. The loss of innocence and growing up themes reminds me of The Blue Lagoon in a way, which had a very pretty Brooke Shields and which I should watch one day.

Hidden meanings… duh… I forgot. xD Stuff like how the lanterns’ lights are warm orange/red and how Mother Gothel’s lantern was green. As well as the awesome use of lighting and shadows in the movie. Heh.

Hmm, well Rapunzel never needed them.

I’m glad you liked it Badger!

I don’t know about you guys, but I have sensitive feet, they would be bleeding by the time I got to the kingdom

I wondered why she didn’t have shoes, but like they said, she didn’t need them. 8D And maybe Mother Gothel did that so as to keep Rapunzel from leaving, to avoid pain.

Thanks, TDIT. I haven’t seen Blue Lagoon, either. Part of me doesn’t want to for some reason.

Oh an interesting theory IV. But come on, a pair of shoes? Now that’s kinda cruel.

I still say it was a tactic to keep Rapunzel inside. Besides, MG is cruel and unfair to Rapunzel through the entire movie. And sadistic, and manipulative, and facetious…heck, she’s just a meanie.

I know this is way late, but about the hair thing: [spoil]Maybe her blonde hair grew faster than the brown hair. Remember back to the beginning of the film when Mother Gothel kidnaps her. Her hair was really long for that age (3-4 months). So maybe the magical hair grows at a faster pace than her natural brown hair.[/spoil] Just a thought.

We watched my copy of Tangled on the bus ride to my chorus field trip. I was quite popular with many of the girls for bringing it…that is, until we actually got to the destination and they started treating me like a loser again. But that’s a story for another time. But we went to the GIANT, beautiful Disney store in the city and saw some pretty awesome Tangled merchandise! My friend Diana texted me to tell me that I should buy her dress and wear it every day. XD

Now that I’ve seen it again, I have to say I love it even more. Flynn/Eugene is even more attractive and fun and I can really get into the fact that Rapunzel, despite her adventuring, is very much a traditional, sweet Disney princess. After so many princesses that, while awesome, seem like they have to go out of their way to be feminist and rebellious, it’s kind of nice.

I agree entirely. It seemed to me that some like Ariel, Pocohantas, and Tiana were trying too hard. I’m glad your fellow chorus members like it, even if they were mean to you. :frowning: hug

Pixarfan9099: That actually makes a load of sense. :open_mouth: Thanks for the idea!!

My friends and I watched this at my birthday party last night. Sure,we’re all 18, 19, and 20. But we LOVED watching this animated film!

Nobody’s too old for Disney magic.

^ I agree wholeheartedly. I mean, even my parents still appreciate them! They’re just that awesome. 8D

Totally, there is no age limit in animation! (well, with exceptions like South Park or Family Guy). You guys know what I mean!

Interesting Tangled fact I want to share wih you guys.

The Mother Knows Best reprise is one of the few songs that can make me shiver, especially the lines

“If he’s lying, don’t come CRYING!!!
Mother Knows Best!!!” (swish of epic cape)

My favorite song on Tangled(and favorite non crying scene) is I’ve Got A Dream. I like MKB at the end in a minor key, as mentioned, but I dislike it in the beginning. :stuck_out_tongue: :frowning:

My favorite song from the film is ‘I See the Light’

I think the beginning and end of the movie were some of the best parts of a movie ever.

I must agree! Also (sorry if you already explained), what is your reason for disliking Mother Knows Best aside from the dark reprise? Not your style, or too zippy?

Too zippy, and I’m not so sure why everyone loves it. It’s okay, and I don’t hate it, but it was very distracting and not fun when I first saw the movie.
