Yup, something along those lines. I’ll be editing to Trailer 2 of Monsters Vs Aliens. I’m midway through.
Now that’s a clean and to-the-point signature. Very classic. I have to say that it doesn’t look like Mike stands a chance when standing next to those two monsters. Hopefully Pixar will be a winner in your mash-up video, and not Dreamworks.
Haha, really cool! I can’t wait…(but also, take your time).
thedriveintheatre - You’re welcome! And, yes, I believe I’ve heard it uttered somewhere before, but I can’t think of where or when that was…
I’m lovin’ the new signature. I wish they’d make a film out of that.
– Mitch
Thanks Rachel! Well, you’ll have to wait and see to find out the winner!
Thanks BDD! Yeah, I’m bout halfway done. I’m aiming for a release within the next two weeks, if I don’t have lotsa homework.
Thanks Mitch! Well, wouldn’t ya know! I’m making the promo for that very film!
In the meantime, here’s my first animated avatar to celebrate the U.S. theatrical release of Disneynature’s full-length nature documentary, Earth! I cropped each of the animal’s sections from the poster and set those as keyframes in Photoshop. In the last frame of the title logo, you can see my pathetic attempt to ‘clone stamp’ the credits out of the poster’s screenshot.
I love it! Those captured shots together…fantastic. Way to bring attention to Disneynature’s Earth (and maybe also good for the spirit of Earth Day). Looks wonderful!
I love the new Disneynature one! I hope you make a followup when Oceans comes out!
thedriveintheatre - Sure thing!
Oh, you are, eh? Well, I certainly look forward to seeing it!
Cute avatar! I didn’t even notice that you’d “clone stamped” the last image in the “reel” until you mentioned it. It looks fine to me.
– Mitch
Thanks BDD! I only wish Earth had been released in Oz, so I could support it. Makes me want to watch the entire Planet Earth documentary series it was based on.
Thanks woody! Yup, if I’m still around here one year from now, I’ll definitely make a similar promo avatar for Oceans. The trailer is amazing, by the way.
Thanks Mitch! Well, I just released P vs D yesterday, the link’s in my sig if you’re interested (or just look up my video thread).
Oh, you didn’t notice? Hm… my photoshoppin’ skillz must be ‘less suckier’ than I thought… thanks!
…
Well, here’s the latest sigs and avatars I’ve been wearing this past fortnight, in order of ‘release’.
As I explained to Rachel in the “Who has the best avatar” thread (rhetorical question, really… everyone’s is), this is my little way of promoting Terra, the new release that has not been getting the attention it deserves. On hindsight, I shoulda added a little Terra title logo so non-fans ‘get’ the joke. I’m sure it was a bit of unintentional coincident-ally (is that a word?), but GID·E, I mean, Giddy, is alike to WALL·E in more ways than one! Both have binocular eyes. One is an ‘Earth Class’ bot, while the other’s ‘Rover Class’. And both will learn to question their directive, as in the case of Giddy, he’s described as “sometimes seeming to even think for himself.”
This was my former avatar in lead-up to yesterday’s release of Pixar vs Dreamworks. My second animated avatar, pretty self-explanatory.
Here’s my current sig. I was thinking of what imagery and tagline to use for my promo graphic of my channel sneak peek, when I suddenly imagined all the Pixar characters in a police identity parade. From there, I came up with the corny tagline, and the wacky result is what you see here.
And finally, my current avatar! I was looking up images for my animated avatar when I came upon one of Susan sitting on a semi. My weird-out brain immediately thought of Mack, and it was just a matter of simple Photoshop compositing.
Ooh, pretty tight avatars and siggys TDIT. I love it. Nice way of promoting your work.
I agree, very good quality there! Especially that last one, it really looks as though some professional came up with that image! It just looks as though it’s always been that way.
I really like them! Giddy definitely is quite a lot like WALL-E, as you pointed out in that avatar. Your promotional signature looks terrifically neat…I like how Kevin’s neck goes off the top. I’m positive it’ll promote your video(s). Oh, man, my favorites are the “Pixar vs. Dreamworks” avatars…really cool. I like how Mike’s face just goes o_O and then you see the monsters of Monsters vs. Aliens, haha! And the second one, with Susan on Mack, that is both clever and funny! I love that one- well done!
Thanks TSS! How do you like my current ‘teaser poster’ for Mission: Incredibles? <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/grinandwink.gif” alt=“;-D” title="Grin and
Wink" />
You mean the Pixar vs Dreamworks avatar of Susan and Mack, lennonluvr9? Wow… professional… I’m really flattered. I’m still a greenhorn, but if you say so! Thanks!
BDD as usual, thanks! Yup, Giddy and Wall-E may just be long-lost brothers, hurr hurr. For the Sneak Peek sig, I couldn’t fit Kevin into the sig without the rest looking too small, so the serendipitous (an accident with fortunate outcomes) and comical result is what you see here! Thanks for the compliments on the Pixar vs Dreamworks avatars!
Anyone else wants to give feedback? So far I’ve been getting compliments, so it would be interesting if anyone could give suggestions on how they could be better. Nothing is perfect, after all. But if you’re all happy with it, I don’t mind going on ego trips…
…
Playtime’s over! Here’s my promo sig for my next action-packed full trailer dub! It’s Mr Incredible next to a giant matchstick!
If you ‘got’ the references in the two lines of credit taglines (ie “From the directors of…” and “Featuring the soundtrack…”) and chuckled appreciatively (Haha, good one, TDIT. Here’s a dollar for being so witty… not."), then I salute you for your knowledge of who’s-who in the movie business.
I really love your siggy TDIT. You make me so jealous with your photoshop skills. It might only be an image, but it blew me away the moment I saw it.
You’re welcome! I’ll definitely take a look at your latest music video when I get the chance to.
Nice new graphics, by the way! I love the “Mission: Incredible” one – it’s very energetic.
– Mitch
Thanks TSS! I wouldn’t say I’m a pro at Photoshop yet, but I’m gettin’ there! Woohoo, blown away in a cascading ball of flames! Look out for the Matchstick of Death, Bob!
Mitch - Pixar vs Dreamworks is a silly little nonsense trailer, not quite a YTP (since most of them consist of repeating Mario and Sonic clips over and over again), but rather a non-sequitur trailer of clips being juxtaposed next to each other for humorous effect. I must credit oyguvaltshappy’s ‘Casino Borat’ for pioneering this genre of clever ‘stupidity’. If you’ve seen my earlier efforts like 'The Dark ‘C*ck’ and ‘Kung Fu Parody’, this is along those lines.
Oh, and have a look at the Sneak Peek trailer, the featured vid on my YT page. It contains all the upcoming vids in the pipeline, I think one particular mash-up might interest you.
Back on Topic, once again, thanks for the comments! I’ll roll out a couple more sigs and avatars in the next few weeks in celebration of Up’s film release and the new PtaF trailer!
That promo signature is strikingly hot! (Hm, not even sure if that made sense, but whatevs). It’s very eye catching - I was surprised for a second when I saw it. Yep, I got the two director references straight away. Both of those directors always use Michael Giacchino as a composer. At first I thought the matchstick was the leg of the Omnidroid or something, heheh.
Thanks Rachel! Glad it got that ‘attention-grabbing’ effect, which was the whole point, really. Good on ya for ‘getting’ the in-jokes! And yup, it’s the Matchstick of Mass Destruction from the original teaser poster.
Your graphics are always so professional and attractive, thedriveintheatre! Your latest one is great- I especially love how the little bits of flame sort of go around Bob and in front of him, it makes the signature look really sleek.
thedriveintheatre - Ha-ha. Sounds like fun! Like I said, I’ll take a look at it.
Hmmm… I guess I’ll have to investigate.
Bear in mind that if you plan on posting up any The Princess and the Frog graphics, it would be great if you did so in the “Non-Pixar Art” section of the boards, since the main fandom section is reserved for Pixar-related content only. Just thought I’d let you know. Thanks!
