Ten Things I Already Love about Wall-E

Ten Things I Already Love about Wall-E

  1. That “gubbagubbagubba” sound he makes when he’s making an effort.
  2. The “ooh” sound he makes when the cockroach is presumed squished.
  3. The yell he gives as he’s propelled into outer space. (Listen carefully and note how, right at the end, it goes up in pitch again before it fades out)
  4. The way he rushes back and forth in panic as the spaceship lands.
  5. The way he pats Luxo and the vacuum cleaner on the head.
  6. The “There” sound he makes after fixing Luxo’s lamp.
  7. The way he trembles. Is there anything more adorable in this universe?
  8. The way he retreats into his ‘shell’ when scared.
  9. The way he takes pride in his work (I refer you to the lamp and the way he adjusts the piles of garbage)
  10. And, of course, the way he says his name. Chills, dude.

I also get the feeling that Wall-E is more of a ‘working-class’ hero than anyone before in the Pixar universe. He has a menial task, equivalent to a janitor’s, and the way he’s voiced and his naïveté add to that; also, he’s not prettified; his paint’s worn and he generally looks like he works with his hands. Which makes me love him more, and if that’s followed up on, I’ll respect the fellows at Pixar a whole lot more.

How 'bout you? Anything I missed?

…Darn, I would have preferred another year of addiction to Ratatouille before falling in love again…

Ha-ha. Wow. The darn film hasn’t even come out yet and it’s already touched the hearts of people. Most charming.

I love all those little things about WALL•E that you mentioned, too, especially numbers three and seven. (Number three gave me chills, man. I loved it.)

Well, to add onto the “collection”…

  1. He has no mouth and doesn’t talk!

I’ve always been attracted to characters who are devoid of a mouth, for some reason, even if they can talk. WALL•E can communicate to some extent, but he doesn’t verbalize via full-length sentences and/or words. Everything is emitted via bloops and beeps, which is quite charming in my humble opinion.

Some Special Trivia to Tickle Your Brain: A similar sound is made by the character of Lily the frog in the sequel to the hit PC game Frogger, known as Frogger: Swampy’s Revenge. (At least, it sounds similar to me. Heheh.)

  1. That, and I love how he cautiously peeks out his eyes slanted with fear. ;-p

~~=oP

  1. WALL*E is environmentally friendly as he runs on a Solar Charge and cleans up waste.
  1. His little toolbox he carries around.
  2. His eyebrows.
  3. His karate reaction to the red light on the ground.
  4. When he bumps his head.
  5. The way he falls for EVE.
  6. His curiosity.

8D Yeah! I love that, too.

Oh, YES! How could I not have mentioned them? Adorable!

Uh… EVE? I’m missing somthing here. Explanation??? Thanks!

[spoil]EVE is WALL•E’s “girlfriend” robot in the film.[/spoil]

  1. His boldness to find EVE.

I like how half of the original 10 are based on sound effects. I guess hiring Ben Burtt was a smart idea. :sunglasses: I can’t wait for the movie =]

it’s interesting that Skippy mentioned solar charged… how can he get his energy if he’s on a space ship? … :frowning: is this forshadowing of a bitter sweet ending?

Anyways, I love his little “whooooaaa” sound he made when he saw Eve. __ adorable!

Actually, GB, in space, the Sun is much brighter.

Aaah, that’s right, heh heh ^_^; an astronomer I am not.

I just watched the trailer…and I have to add some things I loved about it:

  1. The “Great Escape” theme at the beginning! (which is now stuck in my head…)

  2. Wall*E watches chick flicks!

  3. Him playing with a paddleboard (or whatever you call those paddle things with the ball on a string)

  4. Wall*E propelling himself with a fire extinguisher, making those adorable little noises while doing so.

and YAY for a working class hero!

  1. His overall cuteness and uniqueness. I love him to death, how cute he is!!!
He’s unlike any other Pixar character I’ve ever seen!!!
  1. The whole futuristic theme of the movie.

27: ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH WALL-E!!!
Some may call me obsessed, but I prefer enlightened.
*Note my WALL-E related username and location.

  1. The little robot with the “Gogogogogo” sound

  2. The voice of AUTO (and AUTO in general…reminds me of HAL from “2001”)

  1. M-O [spoil](and how he sacrifices WALL•E in the trailer).[/spoil]
  1. Innocent look on his face.
  2. the way he shakes in fear when the mean looking robots say ‘‘Halt’’.
  3. His desing just blows me away.
