Well this year again will be such amazing movies and trust me real commercial movies, but talking about animation, what is the risk for Wall-e??
the last year we just saw that ratatouille broke up the critics and the box office too leaving behind real commercial movies as much as in the critic, like the box office. So many animated films and any of them could got the level of rataouille, shrek the third, a movie that everyone was waiting so much (including myself) finished being really disappointed, yes the movie superpassed to ratatouille in the box office but in the critic was bad bad and with a lower motion like was the predecessors, was so much the disappointment that not even got a nomination for an academy award, not even a golden globe, take that dreamworks! jeje we just hope that toy story 3 dont throw for that situation.
mmmm other animated movies: surfās Up (an oscar nomination not so bad), Happily NāEver After ( this one hurts), meet the robinsons ( another attempt for excel the pixar films), bee movie ( yes a golden globe nomination, but succeded by ratatouille, but not an oscar, it was really regular), Beowulf (although wasānt a child movie it was good but no so good talking the both parts, critic and box officeā¦we just can observe that the evidence prove it; the whole 2007 was for ratatouille.
-THE 2008- so many commercial moviesāanother harry potter film, speed racer, iron-man, the incredible hulk, THE DARK NIGHT, cloverfield is already a succes, the chronicles of narnia and more live action films⦠but the part that is really interesting are the animated movies besides, Wall-e lets check it out! Star Wars clone wars wow is pretty exciting, horton hears a who just think is a dr seuss invention, kung fu panda this one looks like a videogame but is interesting and the animation is awesome, the sequel of Madagascar i donāt know it could be the plot really interesting?, 9 with timburton as productor sounds exciting, bolt is for me the defense against wall-eā¦
BUT WALL-E is a futuristic film, directed by andrew stanton (finding nemo) and definitely with an impressive animation you decide!, but decide with honesty which one looks more exciting we love pixar but maybe would be strong competition (i dont think so jeje)
First, itās The Dark Knight, and second, whereās Indy 4. Iāve been waiting all my life for this film, and I think itāll be huge, like probably sink the Titanic (hopefully, I hate that stupid movie). And I donāt see Madagascar 2 being much of a hit, the first one did okay at the box office, and this oneās opening against Quantum of Solace (the new Bond film).
In regards to ā2008 Box Office Competitionāā¦
I want to put out a thought here and hope I can do it without sounding too critical or preachy (I donāt intend to be): itās often way too easy to get caught up in the hype and minutiae, and forget what really is the most important thing about a film: the film itself, not where it is in box office rankings.
I always considered following box office results of films something like looking at an accident on the side of the road as you go by. Though you may take in the information, does one really gain anything by spending time and energy speculating about such things?
And I will be totally upfront: I say this as someone who follows these numbers myself (though I am also involved in some of these films for my work). I want to remind everyone that while it may be interesting to follow such statistics, it can be all too easy to get caught up in what really has nothing to do with the film, instead of seeing the film fresh, and either loving it or hating it on its own merits.
Iām sure all of us can admit more than weād like, that when in a āmovie moodā, weāve chosen one even if we donāt know that much about it, simply because it was the #1 movie at the time.
Does your enjoyment of a film increase by knowing it was #1 at the box office? Should it? In the end, what does it really matter? I consider Brad Birdās āIron Giantā one of the best animated films Iāve ever seen, yet it totally bombed at the box office.
Iād rather spend time predicting which will be the best films of the year to enjoy instead of which one will take in more money. Sorry, I donāt mean to shoot you down I guess I just worry sometimes that people can miss whatās important when they become concerned about how a film will do at the box office instead of how enjoyable it will be. Iāll shut up now⦠I just want to put that thought out thereā¦
Thereās going to be a Madagascar 2? Looks like itās going to be Shrek all over againā¦
I voted for Wall-E simply because it looks like the one with most potential, but really I guess weāll have to just wait and see. You never really know with these things, especially when a surprise front-runner comes along unexpected. Either way, Iām sure Wall-E will do pretty well for itself, no matter what the competition is.
well miafka trust i have the same thinking of you like i said in the topic shrek 3 hit the box office but was boring in comparision with shrek & sherk 2. i support your critic, the title āthe 2008! Box Office Competitionā is just for fun and because all pixar fans know that wall-e will overhelmed the others, just like ratatouille did it in the 2007. first is the quality how good is the movie and for that work well worked appears a recompense a hit in the box office, when i put the competition on the poll, i thought in the other people who has different thinking of mine and i know that if the movie looks awesome the go and watch the movie without care if the movie is so well. do you understand me? but thanks for the replic is nice of your part remind us the real key of a good movieā¦
james&pixar,
I understand⦠just wanted to remind everyone that box office isnāt everything (and Iām personally involved with a few of these films so of course I want them to succeed. But if I separate myself from my job, I just wanted to remind people that itās not box office or cross-marketing or tie-ins, but the film itself thatās important⦠if itās good or bad)ā¦
Well of course I vote for WALL-E because itās the Pixar one and I have nothing else to go on. Some of these I wasnt even aware of (Madagascar 2???) and others I wont plan on seeing anyway. Star Wars, maybe, Iāll probably see that one.
