Where do you feel the U.S. is heading?

  • End of America as we know it.
  • Mild Recession (we’ll pull out in about 1/2 year)
  • 3 years of hard times
  • i can’t tell (even worse)

Hey guys…for you guys in the U.S. (TSS, A113, Al-Bob)

We know that our economy sucks…it just sucks…but…What would you guys do if you could pass a bill through congress to change this? What would your key be?

The Dow Jones dropped 777.69 Points this afternoon (lowerst drop ever) and economists are saying that we range from (mild depression or recession) to (Total destruction of the U.S. Empire) where do you guys see America heading?

What about the 800 Bill (think that’ll go any higher?) law will pass at all? What will it do to help?

The issues start right now…

Honest leaders in the whole of humanity are hard to come by. A senseless war rages, and believe me I know what I mean, and is left over by our “current leader” who, in turn, decides to turn it over to our next president. Oh joy. Like EITHER of them is going to be able to clean up the mess.
With the rise in prices and no progressive element to recover, place is going down on a slope that will be hard to dig out of. Despite getting the highest grade in my Government high school class, I tutter it off most of the time, as I doubt that they’re going to progress anything astoundingly forward at all.
Once the parents are struggling to pay off their bills and dept, nothing would be left for the kids. And with increases in school graduation requirements (again, I know what I’m talking about. I was one of the “guienes” for the “Graduation Project” for my own school, which you had to pass, ALONG with four assessements and credits, in order to graduate. And believe me, when my computer crashed and I went through so many matters to recover my project, I just couldn’t imagine another obstacle.
So in basics, humanity movers and shakers better shape up or there’ll be heck to pay.

Things are looking pretty bad in america right now. I don’t think that it is the end of the US, but it will take some time to get out of this hole.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how all of this will play out. I’m kind of excited that all of this is happening right now, actually. How many other people get to take AP Economics during the biggest economic fiasco since the Great Depression?

Personally, I am not terribly affected by this. Both of my parents are doctors, so their jobs won’t be in jeopardy until people stop getting sick.

It’ll be interesting.

Unfortunitely my Dad’s a photographer…who really needs photos?

The bill was not a good idea. I’m glad it was turned down by Congress earlier. Having the government take care of everything is not something we need. That’s just a big step towards Socialism.

righto Jesus Freak…perfectly said in my opinion…

I’ll admit, I don’t know the ins and outs of what’s happening in America right now, but I do know that it’s worrying. A similar situation (though I don’t think it’s as severe) is happening over here, too. I heard about some $6 billion deal that everyone thought would be done, but hasn’t gone ahead, and a lot of people have been arguing whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing.

I don’t think it’s exactly going to be the end of America, though. It might take a while for things to return to normal, perhaps a few years, but at the same time, there’s this real inevitability about it all.

Depression II is coming. Get ready now.

I think that’s called scare-mongering.

I’ve heard a lot of people on the news saying that “it’s going to be bad, but it’s not going to be as bad as the Depression”. Of course, those are just people on the news. They’re more well-informed than I am, most certainly, but the economy can be very unpredictable at times.

Well, don’t say i didn’t warn you.

I think it all depends on who is elected as our next President. Although, either way, I think it’ll be over in about a year.

What should congress do?

Oh, yeah. slaps self Sorry.

I think Congress should tell America to handle this on their own, so we’ll get off our lazy butts.

If I recall, the Depression was an immediate disruption of the economy that took time to recover from. And I think we STILL might be. This seems more like a progresive Depression we’re…no…the economy and government is digging the AMerican people into.

It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it… anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
Douglas Adams

You know, when I watch Nick, I see that commercial about “how to be president”. I have to wonder…was there ANY president (with exception to some of the first ones, given the time, and the Depression event) that wasn’t financially stable?

What do you guys think of the economy now??

Will congress pass another bailout package?

Will there be a world bank (A113 this is your topic)?

Why does the government really want to step in?

What do the candidates think about our economy and how do they plan to fix it?

Something’s gonna happen, without a doubt.

I know that the island is crowded, but I’ve seen one too many cars on this island, not to mention entire families out shopping midday, on weekdays! A lot of them, I’m beginning to suspect, rely on lawsuits or are either in a lot of debt. I say lawsuits because it’s amazing how many people I’ve seen try to get into accidents or purposely walk through ongoing traffic, as if looking for a reason to sue. :stuck_out_tongue: As if that’s their only source of income. It’s insane.
