The Changing User Community

I’ll help you!

Me and WBoon are running a forum at the minute, but there arent many - er - any other mumbers so far, it’s just sstarted. I do remember the community from last year, 'n’aye, 'twas a lot different.

Um . . . I think it’s a little late. I found a way to make a forum. But thanks for saying you wanted to help! Means a lot!

Even though I’ve only been here for a few months now, I’ve seen some of the forum cycle that some of you are talking about. It’s not uncommon, usually what happens is something in real life gets in the way of community’s, or they just get tired of it. Unfortunately that means we have to adapt to new members as soon as they join and make the feel as welcome as possible, to ensure a better feeling to stay. Pixar Planet already does a great job of this. Other forums, however, are usually unwelcoming and not worth your time, even though often times we spend a lot of time posting stuff so that others will kindly join in. But it just doesn’t work. I’ve been in the Sonic Community before, and they are nothing like this one. You have to show that your worth being a fan before they accept you. If I never started the Wall-E Fangame, I probubbly never would have joined Pixar Planet, for that reason. even than there’s always a war of words that never seems to end. I’m glad I left that community.

I plan to stay at Pixar Planet for as long as I possibly can. Does it mean that I’ll always be loyal? No, Because I still have a life. Does it mean I’ll leave for good? Certainly not. Pixar and this community has become a part of me now, and I feel as if it’s my responsibility to come and say something every once and a while.

Here’s to a long Pixar Planetarian Life. :sunglasses:

Amen.

The overall feeling of Pixar Planet hasn’t really changed in the 11 months I’ve been here. This is the nicest and most welcoming forum I have ever visited. It is a wonderful, supportive community. The thing that has changed is the people. Naturally people come and go. There is still a few friendly “old” faces from when I started who are kind of like a comforting constant force on the forums. It’s fun seeing new people join the forum, especially the super passionate ones.

I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. I may not be on too much now that school has started up again, but I could never leave permanently.

i remember when i first came…i was reached out to by…TSS and i think it was Rachel…and BDD. They were the first to really welcome me and introduce me to the way of PP. Since then i have been off and on…between School, Writing, Vacations (i’ve done 2…Hawaii and Colorado)…so i might be on all fall and then off all summer. Strange…

Plans for leaving…hmmm maybe. I currently have no real ties anymore to Pixar…i still love their work and would love to do stuff with them; but only writing so the forums don’t have the appeal that talking would. And now that i’m so backed up on the fan fiction index its really crunching me a little…could use some prayer for that thread.

But for now i’m staying thanks to my writing…which is coming back soon…

I know I haven’t been here forever, but I can relate to this. I run a fan forum and have been a member of it since, what 2006? So few of the senior fans still around, and the forum in general is pretty dead. 8( The WALL-E fandom has also gotten a bit quiet in some places, though it’s not quite as bad (or maybe it is, and I just can’t notice cause I’ve been in an active WALL-E RP for over a year now. xD;)

This forum is lucky in a sense, though, because every year a new film comes out and rekindles people’s love/brings new fans. This place would be hard to kill.

But anyways, I got quiet for a bit, but I don’t plan to leave. Pixar is one of my favorite fandoms these days. People in general are so nice and have such a great attitude and such respect for the artists who make this stuff.

I’m relatively new to this forum, but I’ve been a veteran of another movie site for many years. It’s membership has changed radically for the worse. Although with a focused forum like this one changes are more cyclical with the release of new material. Fortunately, this forum has movies that you really don’t get tired of talking about. People just get busy with work, school, life in general. But it’s a nice set of forums here. Keep it going!

Something I can definitely relate to…matter of fact I actually thought about this (since I’ve recently ‘ACTIVELY revisited’ this forum). Looking back now I can’t believe I’ve been here for about 3 1/2 years now…:open_mouth:

…and while many familar usernames have faded, it’s good to still be able to see those that do still come around…:-D)

Part of this also has to do with the fact that there are WAY more members now than there were back then so things will seem to change a lot faster because of that.

As much as I’d hate to admit it, we seemed a lot ‘closer’ in a forum of less than 100 members, but I think as we’ve grown (in numbers), it gives us opportunities for bigger things…

I’ve already noticed that I’m nowhere near as active a member as I was when I first joined, but along with everyone else…life’s just been busy. ( Full-time college student. 2 jobs, and whatever time I have left for hobbies, etc…)

I’d say I’ll probably be one of the ones that won’t leave the forum COMPLETELY, I just won’t post as much… :frowning:

while I understand that I haven’t been here for very long, that is the life of a message board…people come, people go, life happens, things happen, sometimes you can control it and sometimes you can’t…

I can completely relate to your viewpoint on the matter, Rac_Rules. I first joined this forum about a month or two after it was “born”, so I’ve noticed the changes; however, and quite surprisingly, they’re not as drastic as I would have expected them to be – the people here are still just as friendly and loyal to the site as they’ve always been, and with each new film that Pixar releases everyone’s love for the company just seems to escalate. In fact, besides the additional forum sections and sub-forums, the revival of Radio Pixar, and such community outreach “programs” as Pixar Planet Movie Night and the Pixar Commentaries, the only thing that has really changed, in my eyes, is the level of intimacy. For the first year or so after I joined, I felt very connected with practically the entire community. Now-a-days, there are only a select group of individuals whom I remember from the old days, as well as other members who have made a significant impression on the boards over the years. It’s still a great community; it’s just not as personal as it used to be.

I won’t lie. I do miss the intimacy of the forums…
