I’m hoping that someone could help me out here. I’m looking for a DVD extra where a Pixarian plays violin. I think it could be Pete Docter, because I know he plays a few musical instruments. From memory it could be a Mexican trio where they are dressed up, playing around the studio to celebrate the end of production for one of their movies. I think it was at the new Emeryville location, so probably wasn’t for the end of Pixar’s first 3 movies, but you never know. I’d like to take a look at his fiddlin’ skills, even it wasn’t Pete Docter in that trio.
It does sort of ring a bell, but as someone who tends to buy the DVD and watch the behind-the-scenes stuff once and only once I really can’t remember where it was from. It might possibly be from the Monsters, Inc. extra DVD, one that I’ve actually watched more than once because the idea of some Pixarians playing instruments really does ring a bell, but I’m sorry I can’t help any further, Rachel. Is there any reason behind you trying to search for this?
Thanks very much, robertA113. I’ll try looking at that DVD. From the sounds of it, you’ve found out where it is.
lizardgirl - Oh, well, I’m learning violin as a hobby and I watched the extra before taking up violin, so want to watch it again since taking up the instrument.
Heh. Well, lizardgirl, all I know is that if they don’t have white stickers on their fingerboard (the black part), then they’re probably a better violinist than me.
Well, since robertA113 decided to erase all of his posts, it is indeed Pete Docter playing violin in the opening minute of the documentary “Making Nemo” on disc 2 of the Finding Nemo DVD. He sounds pretty good to me, good timing, and not scratchy or anything. Always a plus. Encore, encore, Pete Docter!
I think the mariachi band was in the The Incredibles DVD extra, but that may have contained the 3 caballeros. If it does have Pete Docter playing violin I’ll post here.
