The Fox And The Hound 25th Anniversary DVD has been out for a week, but I didn’t think
to look for it until today. Sadly, it was sold out at Wal-Mart, and I don’t know why, but that surprised
me.
TFATH is one of those Disney animated films that I haven’t watched since I was a kid. I remember
what happens, but not how it happens.
And…did you know that Brad Bird was
an uncredited animator for TFATH? This is probably due to the fact that he left Disney in 1981 after working on
it. Apparently, he had a difference of opinion with the company and complained about story
quality.

Oh
Brad Bird worked on this movie? I didn’t knw that. Great job for him. As for the movie, I don’t think I am
going to get it. I never liked TFATH when I was a kid.
A
little off topic:
The Fox And The Hound 2 DVD comes out on December 12, 2006.
I don?t think it will
be that good. I mean what?s up with Disney coming out with so many sequels from their classic films like Bambi 2
and Fox And The Hound 2 their just ruining it in my opinion? Don?t get me wrong I still love
Disney!

Didn’t Tim Burton work on
Fox and the Hound as well? He also worked on Black Cauldron but the story ideas he had such as the Horned King
having split personalities that were acted out through puppets or something were turned down.
Heh. I didn’t know that.
Tim Burton also
worked with Brad Bird on the Family Dog episode (of which Brad was the creator) of Amazing Stories as the
character designer. 6 years later, Tim was the executive producer and design consultant for the TV series that
was derived from the animated short. It only lasted one season, but it was
hilarious.

Ahh…another Disney feature that was
released and soon forgotten. At least, it was to some people. I, on the other hand, still appreciate it to a
certain degree, even though it’s definitely not my favorite of the old Disney films. At least it’s better than
some of the stuff that Disney Studios has released lately.
There are at least three people whom I know
who worked on it:
John Lasseter
Mr. Robinson
(aka…my dad)
Tim Burton
That’s how dad came to know Joe Ranft, John
Lasseter, and thousands of other people who used to work at Disney and at other well-known studios (Warner
Brothers, etc.). Dad also worked on The Black Cauldron too, but I don’t think he’s
too proud of it.
Meanwhile, I’ll decide on whether or not I want to buy The Fox and the
Hound over The Little Mermaid. Maybe I’ll get both, just for old
time’s sake.
TFATH was a very sweet movie, but very, very sad, at points. I always cry when the old woman abandons the
fox, but I haven’t seen it in so long, I’d love to watch it again. They’re always showing it on the Disney
Channel, so I don’t think I’ll get the DVD.
I LOVE that movie. The new cover burns my eyes though
