The "Introduction/I'm Back" Thread

violet parr - You’re welcome!

Ha-ha. Thanks. Mine needs some work, but I’m glad that you like its current attire. (heheh)

– Mitch

Mitch- It’s not really that bad. Actually, it was cool to hear how you came to be such a big fan of Pixar. :-D) But I’m all for improvement, and it might be nice to see an updated version. So, edit away…

Oh, and I love the Avatar,Grimey. Ha ha! very creative. Reminded me of something my Dad told me once.

violet parr - Heheh. Well, I’ll definitely edit it eventually, but I appreciate the compliment all the same.

Grimey - Ha! Great avatar!

I like Haunt’s avatar, as well. She’s had it for ages, but it always captures my attention.

– Mitch

Cheers for the warm welcome guys.

Grimey - A New Zulender, ey? Your name reminds me of Frank Grimes: Homer’s arch enemy from The Simpsons. Great to have you on Pixar Planet, neighbour!

And welcome to all the other new members, too. I’m way far behind to welcome you all properly…

rachelcakessomerandomnumbers:LOL at your sig!

'Tis where it comes from actually  Love The Simpsons.

Didn’t Brad Bird used to work on The Simpsons?

Yes, I believe he did. A few episodes at least.

maybe he should make the last episode, I mean, The Simpson’s is good, but it can’t last forever! Besides, the cast members are all old, and The Simpson’s wont be the same without the voices!

General Reminder: Please keep all discussions in this thread on-topic, everyone. Thank you.

–Falling With Style

Hi FallingWithSyle, welcome to Pixar Planet.

What’s it like in South Korea?

FallingwithStyle: Hmm, didn’t we just have a member named that? Oh well. Welcome to Pixar Planet.

Thank you for the welcome :sunglasses:

I myself am surprised this username wasn’t taken! Maybe there’s another “falling with style” around here, with differen spelling?

What’s Korea like? Well, I’ve got a blog that talks about it (www.subisuround2.blogspot.com), but it’s sweltering and sticky in the summer, bitterly cold in the winter, and is an interesting mix of the modern and outdated.

Welcome to the boards, FallingWithStyle! And you chose an awesome Pixar quote, definitely one of the best.

Yes, there was another member with a similar username, but I believe theirs had spaces in-between the words.

Okay, I’m not that new to Pixar Planet, but I have wondered how these boards work. I have been to other forums on different sites, so I know that you click a board, press reply and then vuala! A post!

Just what are some common curtesy stuff that goes on these boards?
(Ya’know, stuff that is just normally done by most of the members that isn’t specified by the rules page)

Thanks

I’d like to kindly direct you to the Troubleshooting page, where most of your answers would be… answered: viewforum.php?f=29

With regards to new posts, there’s a “New Topic” button both above and below the board page. You should see it only if you’re logged in.

A few courtesy pointers I can think of:

Refrain from shouting as much as possible. ie No Caps Lock. Use italics or exclamation points instead.

Don’t write unnecessary posts (or one-word replies) to ‘bump’ threads you want others to read. Try as much to have something new to add to the discussion or at least have the courtesy to write more than one sentence if possible.

Do not post adult or incendiary material on the boards. Pretty obvious.

Try to keep flaming to a minimum. :stuck_out_tongue: Healthy arguments are encouraged, but try not to get personal.

This is polite, but not compulsory. Try to write a response to the latest replied thread in a board, before ‘bumping’ an older thread or starting a new post. This is especially important in the fandom boards, where people might get annoyed if you push your own or other older fanworks when they have just posted a new one under their thread. Again, this is just to show respect, but not necessary.

These are some of the few ‘unspoken’ rules I could think of for now.

Welcome to the boards, FallingWithStyle and thewisecookiesheet!! (I absolutely love the randomness of your username!!! XD)

FallingWithStyle: I actually recognize the cartoon your avvie features. Gotta love classic Disney!

thewisecookiesheet: Well, it’s good that you actually sought advice on common courtesy around the site before opening up a whole new thread on it. Smart thinking!

Hope you guys enjoy your time here! We don’t bite; we’re just practicing on our roars and going for fearsome in the process. :smiling_imp:
