Toronto, Canada. I’ll throw in the ‘Eh’ for a nickel.
we have other members from Canada. I think most are from USA and Europe.
Yeah, another Canuck! I understand if you don’t want to specify details, this being the internet, but what province do you hail from…eh?
Sorry I couldn’t risist.
Anyway ,I’m so happy you’ve decided to join this community! And at the perfect time, we get a lot more active come summer, and I hope you participate in some of our movie nights, or quizes, or chat sessions!
Yay! I’m a Canadian too!
I believe you are using “eh” in the wrong context though eje, we typically use it at the end of a sentence like a replacement for “huh” instead. ![]()
Welcome to the boards methuselah! It’s a really cool place
And ahh, I didn’t know you were Canadian MissCarrera! Yay! That’s really cool. I love how I can say I’m friends with people from other countries ![]()
I know, I just had to throw it in there somewhere! ![]()
methuselah: Welcome to the Pixar Planet forums!
Welcome-to-the-pixar-forums-although-you’ve-been-on-here-for-almost-a-week Methuselah!
lol, I said hi to him the first day.
I feel like I continually say I’m back and then do nothing spectacular other than fade into the background… Surely that isn’t the case… but it could be.
Uni exams over… Results Day June 24th. Graduation 4th July…one thing left to do - find first teaching job. Otherwise it simply means the Captain is back, engines revved, into Top Gear and ready for the rubber to burn!
I’ve missed you all… well those who I knew… and readily anticipate discussion… and hope that unlike previous years I won’t lose my head before the UK release of a Pixar film!
Well welcome back Captain Pan, hope you stay this time.
Welcome back Captain Pan! Graduating from universitiy, sounds like an exciting time!
Oh yeah, that’s something I love about the Internet.
Hahaha, I understand. XD
I wish I had found this board when I joined, I don’t recall doing so though.
Welcome to all the new users though! The more the merrier!
Hmm. Sorry about disappearing for the last week or so, I’ve had to write a 20 page report on the culture of the Sassanid Persian empire. Not so fun.
Okay, I’ve actually been enjoying it a lot, but it has taken away from my time here. As soon as summer starts I’ll be very active but for now I’m busy.
Don’t worry dude! I too have been MIA and not posting as much, due to school and work. But I have 2 finals down 2 to go. I wish it was summer so I don’t have to deal with all this stress!
Welcome back Captain Pan!
Welcome back several people I know and don’t know!
[Moved this from its own topic when I realized it should be here.] ![]()
Hello, fellow Pixar admirers! I figure I’ll go ahead an make a little introduction here…
I’m 22 years old and I’d definitely call myself a Pixar fan. The films are great (though Pixar, contrary to popular opinion, is fallible), but I really think the company itself is something of an incredibly interesting oddity in both the business and entertainment worlds. This is one of the reasons I enjoy learning about how they work, and how their successful films are merely an extension of that creative but serious environment. I find it fascinating that Pixar employs at once the crème de la crème of both animators and computer engineers - an obvious rarity to have under one roof.
I lifted my username “Marionette” from their in-house software. I like the name for multiple reasons: it sounds nice, it’s a antiquated yet beautiful art form itself, and the software signifies the meshing of art and science/technology. (I’m also a guy, by the way, in case the name throws you.) Speaking of puppetry, I’m also an ardent admirer of Jim Henson and his work.
I’m a history buff and a technology aficionado. I’ve been reading “The Pixar Touch,” a detailed history of the company, after reading a Steve Jobs’ bio which got me interested with a fairly detailed account of Pixar’s history prior to 1986. It’s the groundbreaking work of people like Ed Catmull and Alvy Ray Smith, or Steve Wozniak (among a plethora of others) which I really admire, because these guys were so ahead of their time.
What else? I’ve lived around San Diego since I was 8, but I originally hail from Buffalo, NY. I love both cities, though neither have yet won a sports championship.
Any other hockey fans out there?
Okay, that’s probably more of an introduction than manners dictate, so I’ll bow out for now. I’m looking forward to joining in on some of the great discussions here! ![]()
(Oh, and my favorite Pixar film is Finding Nemo. Beyond the story, the underwater scenes are just visually stunning.)
Wecome Marionette . Im sure your like it here. Your have fun. I like hockey, Im a Blues fan.
Hi, Marionette! I like your name, and you seem nice. I’m sure you’ll love it here. ![]()
