The Kid's Choice Awards ( who we're up against )

Do you think Cars is going to win ?

 • Well duh ! of course
 • I don’t think so , we’ve lost to Happy Feet twice .
 • No idea , I’m stumped on this one .

Okay , we’re in , what else , Best Animated Feature . Not so amazingly , all of the movie’s are

3d and/or mo-cap . The nominees are :

Cars
Happy Feet
Over The Hedge
Ice Age:The

Meltdown

Basically , are only competition is Happy Feet . In my opinion , this award means

the most , because even though it’s an orange blimp , the voters are the people animation studios mostly trying

to capture : kids ( although they don’t know if your an adult or not , so you guys can vote and they won’t know

! ) .

So , you guys think Cars is gonna win . I think so , because that’s the only movie I liked up

there . I’m serious .

I voted “yes” on this one, and for one reason:

1. Next to Happy Feet (which is more

adult-oriented), Over the Hedge, and Ice Age: The

Meltdown, it seems as if Cars would be the most appealing and

kid-friendly in a child’s eyes.

Happy Feet was cute and had adorable

penguins dancing around (not to mention, the music is enough to make anyone want to learn tap-dancing lessons),

but the message – although apparent – was more droven into the story-line (in a very clever and artistic

fashion, I might add).

Over the Hedge had fluffy little, huggable animals to

goggle at, but the story was (in my opinion) less interesting than its other three competitors. Not that the kids

would care (depending on their varying ages), but still…

Ice Age: The

Meltdown was energetic, funny, and entertaining as far as a family film goes. Alot of kids

probably think Scrat’s antics engaging and hilarious, and the unique setting of the picture is certainly

something to marvel at in terms of the computer animation.

Henceforth, I would say that

Cars’ biggest competitor in this particular situation would be Ice

Age. But that’s just me… Here’s hoping that Cars wins the loot!

No opinon on this what

so ever. I will be voting for all movies because they all had a positive impact on children. To see those movies

put smiles on the little one’s faces is rewarding enough to me. I’ll have a slight sense of happiness

if (look at the bolded word) Cars win, but I’ll stay neutral for now.

Had there not been a third option, I would have voted

“yes” (i.e., that Cars would win) because

Cars seems to be more kid-friendly in terms of the plot, as Mitch mentioned.

However, there was the third option of "I have no idea what’s going to

happen," (or something along those lines), which isn’t completely true because I’m positive that either

Cars or Happy Feet would win (which means that I

actually do have an idea about what’s going to happen), but true enough given the

tightness of the race between those two movies (no pun intended).

Note that I didn’t base my vote on my

personal preferences (not that I could have picked a preference considering that the only one I’ve seen out of

those movies is Cars); I mostly based it on precedence, which more or less tells us

that it’s a really close race between the two aforementioned movies.

I don’t know…

It seems as if

Happy Feet had a pretty good run, however, I think alot of people really like

Cars, and some even better with Happy

Feet.

Anyway: GO CARS!!!

I’d

like Cars to win, of course, but I sort of have a feeling that this isn’t going to happen, for one main reason-

Cars will always be more appealing to boys of a certain age, than to girls of a certain age. Even though,

theoretically, both girls and boys can enjoy Cars, at the end of the day, 9 out of 10 little girls won’t really

want to be too interested in the film, and it’s less likely that the parents who have just female kids will have

taken them to see Cars in the first place.

With all of the other films, they appeal more generally for all

of the kids. I’m not saying that no girls can enjoy Cars, since many obviously have, but it isn’t an entirely

balanced appeal between the sexes.

I’m really not sure… I agree with the others that Cars is probably the most appealing. I

mean, talking CARS! It’s a good change from fluffy animals, and yet they can be adorable at the same time… but

Happy Feet just seemed to draw a lot of attention to itself. The tapdancing is really quite catchy, I admit, even

though I STILL haven’t seen the movie yet. Still, I’m rooting for Cars, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed all

day… :astonished:

lizardgirl - Hmm – I never thought about it in that light before. You do have a

point. The premise of the film is geared more towards young boys; and even if it appeals to many girls as well,

the “little ladies” would probably be a tad more interested in Disney’s

Princesses franchise than Cars. Us other,

“older” girls know what the good stuff is though.

Hah Hah you

got that right !

But lizardgirl , I think you missed one thing that would actually atract girls for the

movie Cars .

That’s right … Sally Carrera .

This lovely light blue porche brings some

girliness into the film . after all , she is a girl , and pretty independent too !

Wow , I’m starting to sound like one of those fashion show ladies … ick !

lizardgirl: So Cars

and racing would go for the boys right? Okay. Super Heroes usually fall under the male category. Yet, The

Incredibles, two years ago, pulled out the Kid’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie. So Cars has a very good even

chance.

I really want cars to win, even though there is some good competition, and little kids taking

over most of the votes, this will be a close finish!! i think it will come down to ice age and cars.

But just because a movie has a girl in it, even an

“independent” one, doesn’t mean it’s going to be succesfull with the female gender. That’s like

saying if a movie had an all boy cast, then no girl would love it; and all guys would enjoy it. That doesn’t

make sense. Cars is a racing movie, and, naturally, more boys are going to like it.

Well I’m sure there are some

girls out there who may have liked it, but I guess it would appeal more to boys. But yeah older girls would like

it better than younger ones I think. I honestly dont know who would win. Cars is really great, but kids also like

animals so i’m not saying Cars is definitely gonna win over Happy Feet. Of course, I hope it does.

Here is a suggestion. Does anybody know a place to find

statistics of the movies that were most loved or most watched by kids? (ie: polls, number data. . .)

http://www.imdb.com

Another one of my favourite

sites.

Maybe just typing what

movie you want into google with “statistics” entry following it. That worked for me once.

I’m not going to vote in the poll, I really don’t care about the Kids’ choice awards anymore, but I remember

the time in my life when I looked forward to those awards like no other. Now, a few years since then, I’ve grown

up to like the Academy Awards more.

If I had to choose, I would pick Cars for Kids’ pick for Animated

Feature. Cars grossed the most, more families saw the film, and its toys are flying off the shelves.

So does

anyone know what movie did win? I believe those awards were yesterday, right?

Happy Feet won. Eh, didn’t matter much to me, I liked

both movies. It was predictable, the DVD just came out making it a favorite all over again.

I

actually had to check Google News to verify that this is true - it is April Fools’ Day after all.

Anyway, after verifying that Happy Feet did, indeed, win, I have to say

that I wasn’t too surprised by the win. Although I haven’t seen the film, I congratulate George Miller (again)

for the win. I would also like to congratulate John Lasseter (again) for helming a masterpiece.
