The Lion King

“Be Prepared” gives me chills too.

Certainly.

Anyone ever here about those stupid similerities yo Kimba the White Lion.

No. I’ve never heard of Kimba. However, TLK is loosely based on Hamlet. Think about it.

Interesting, I havew never heard of Kimba before.

I haven’t either, but I suppose it is a rip off. I’d say TLK is still a better movie than Kimba a show, though. I’ll watch some Kimba and make an educated guess. Or ask Spirit. 8D

I think Disney did they the ideas but I still like the movie.

Its been 7 years since I last saw the Lion King, and I have a good enough memory to know how it works out. I am probably one of the few people to admit dislike to The Lion King, but if I aint then thats a good thing. I don’t like The Lion king other than it ripping off from the Japanese cartoon Kimba, Lion was just overrated. Like certain Disney films, it gets way too much attention it gets. My dad was one of the few adults who saw the similarities of Kimba the white lion with Lion King right away. I remember reading that the Tezuka family brought the issue to court, but Disney got away with it. To this day I still think the Tezuka family should have won the case though.

If you saw the Kimba cartoon, you’d get it. If u haven’t find the cartoons, watch them, and put the pieces together. But Lion King isn’t a bad film, after all I did enjoy the animated sequence of Be prepared amazing.

I don’t know why Disney won’t admit they took some ideas.

I’m a fan of Osamu Tezuka, but haven’t gotten to watch/read Kimba the White Lion yet. I’ve heard a lot of the similarities really were stolen. :frowning:

Also, let’s not forget Walt Disney himself was a big fan of Tezuka. He said when shaking his hand at the World Fair shortly before dying that he wanted to make something “just like Tezuka’s Astro Boy”. I know Lion King was made way later in the 90’s, but it still kinda throws me off. Clearly some other Disney artists knew and were fond of Tezuka like he was of them. It shows, especially artistically.

I do need to see Kimba when I have the time.

Me too.

I would guess the cartoon of Kimba is on DVD(but likely to be Japanese only). I remember hearing somewhere that Disney stopped all the shipments on the anime. Which stinks if its true . But I would try searching online if you ever get the chance to.

Because they only let the money talk. And to make everyone think they should get all the credit(when in reality they dont need all the credit)

I find this very ironic. Because Tezuka himself(like any other young person at the time) was inspired by Disney. Even Astro boy is considered as the “Mickey mouse of Japan”.

I still personally believe The Lion King is a good film. Along the lines of Up/Above then Beyond. Besides, I always personally thought it was based almost entirely on Hamlet, so this is not very disturbing to me.

The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie no matter what.

It’s still in my #7 spot regardless. :sunglasses:

What’s your favorite?

Even with this I still love The Lion King.

I think the best song in the Lion in the Circle of life. It send schills down my spine all the time. The full verison by Elton John is great too.

I love “The Circle Of Life” too. Great song.
