I watched Lion King 1 1/2 today. It gets lots of hate, but I think it’s fun.

Same here. I liked it as a kid, and still think it’s one of the better sequels.

Yep, I’m house sitting right now, and they have all the Lion Kings.
The Lion King has amazing bonus features, and the commentary is facinating. I encourage any animation fans to watch it when they can.
There are also two bonus behind-the-scenes videos. It’s interesting, because the directors had to beg animators to work on The Lion King. Because most of the experienced ones wanted to work on Pocahontas. Which made sense. The three previous Disney movies were the same formula that Pocahontas was.
So many of the artists on The Lion King were still novices. Also animators who enjoyed drawing animals choose TLK over Pocahontas.
I heard about that somewhere, I forgot where, maybe it’s deja vu. Ironically, The Lion King turned out to be a bigger hit than Pocahantas!
I was playing Hitman Absolution a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t help but think of the Lion King’s title card when the mission titles came up. They even have the same “whoosh” sound, although with less reverb and lower pitched.
Yeah, it’s crazy ironic!
And that title card is very reminiscent of TLK!
