Félix, a clumsy and unlucky Iberian lynx, is staying at the animal recovery center at the Doñana National Park, after one of his countless mishaps. However, the center is attacked by mercenaries led by Newmann, the self-titled “greatest hunter in the world”, hired by an eccentric millionaire, Noé (Noah in the English version), who intends to create a sort of Noah’s Ark for threatened species. Assisted by his friends - Gus, a paranoid chameleon; Beeea (Beeety in the English version), a daredevil goat; Astarté, a brave falcon; and Rupert, a poor-sighted mole - Félix must foil Noé’s plans.
All of the movie takes place in the natural parks of Andalusia.
Has anyone scoped this out?
It’s on Netflix currently, and yes in english. It’s pretty cute and, while not Pixar, I did enjoy the animation.
It’s something to give a watch when you’re looking for an under radar movie.
I have seen this movie!! I thought it wasn’t really great, but it did hold my siblings’ attention, so I was pleased. The lynx was cute, but the chameleon bugged me.
Ditto, and agreed! The animation is rather clunky, no doubt owing to budget limitations. The English dialogue is a bit stilted, owing to the film’s Spanish origins. The story is okay but hampered by some mild logical gaps and other oddities. Even so, there might be enough diamonds in the rough to warrant a look by the tolerant viewer. I most enjoyed the sets and the character design.
I just checked out the website. And yeah Virginia, I’m bothered by the chameleon by just looking at him! He’s defintely not as adorable as Pascal from Tangled! Nonetheless, I’m going to check out this movie sometime.
Hey, I thought the chameleon was rather funny. They actually DO look like that, with those weird buggy eyes! No offense to Pascal, but chameleons with cartoony eyes with visible eye whites are simply not done IMO.
As for the movie in general, I saw it one time. It was enjoyable, and I liked the character designs. Also, props to the creators for using rather unknown animals. Not many animations these days do that. Sad, because there’s so many different unusual species…
Yeah the chemelon bugged me too…and the goat’s sterotypical goat voice…
But I love it for the reason Badger said. Being a huge feline fan, this movie drew me in to see the main hero a lynx, my fave wild cat.
I’d love to see it in spanish, Im sure it’s alot better.
Another reason why I loved it was that there were a lot of female roles. The hawk could have easily been a male, but they did’nt make her one. I love it when movies have strong female roles and not just one who acts helpless…
I’d never actually heard of this film before today. Looking at the trailer, it seems interesting. The models are low-poly, but they certainly seem to have their hearts in the right place design-wise. The voices are kind of annoying, though. If I ever watch this it’ll be in its original language (which I may actually do sometime).
Oh, about the female roles… I couldn’t agree more! I think that’s awesome as well. I mean, when females are just there to look pretty and get kidnapped it IRKS me to NO END.
(And that happens mostly in videogames, with a few exceptions. And if there’s a girl who isn’t useless, she’s almost always fetish-fuel. FOR SHAME! D: )
That’s why I like Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 over 1. Dixie Kong, dudes! She ain’t no damsel in distress! I mean, she freaking overrules her male partners, with her helicoptery-ponytail-thing! xD;
Went a bit offtopic there, didn’t I? D: I must make a blog or something.
Oh well. I quite liked Missing Lynx anyhow. And the title, too! It’s a rather funny pun. That’s why I went all BADGER RAGE when I heard the Dutch title was ‘Felix en het geheim van de gestolen vriendjes’ (Felix and the secret of the stolen friends). Bleh! Silly localisation team, marketing it to kiddies… I thought the poacher’s demise was rather disturbing, for one.
The designs are cool, though! I didn’t miss the fancy fur textures and whatnot for example.
The hunter’s demise [spoil]I was kinda upset at first, but after a bit of credits, you see he’s still alive. He even pulls a Sid when he see’s a cat[/spoil]
I think Mr. Bandares helped produce the movie. I looked at the end and did’nt see his name in the list of VA’s.
The opening credits read, “Antonio Banderas Presents…” at the beginning, if memory serves. Maybe there was another credit listing him as an executive producer. With Puss In Boots coming soon, it seems he likes the felines.
