The most under-appreciated Pixar film

This^ I find it very stuck up when people think like that… :unamused:

Exactly.

Each Pixar film is brilliant. It’s just that each of the movies has had a different reaction to each of the movies.

Hmm this was a tough one for me to decide.

I think ABL wasn’t so much as under appreciated as more overshadowed by TS1 and also lacking the publicity. I really like ABL and it just seems to have all the right traits to appeal to kids. I also think Cars has that same type of appeal, but maybe more geared towards the boys.

I eventually chose Wall-E because I feel it had a more adult aspect to it that would more than likely skim over childrens’ heads (the huge references to 1970/80s scifi classic movies for example), and then there was all the supposed right-wing political hoo haa some people came up with, with regards to the ecological and human portrails. Some people just dig too deep into stories to try and find hidden meanings, and totally miss the whole point of the story altogether.

I agree with you. I wish people liked Cars more, and it really makes me sad some of the stuff people say. But I guess ABL is just way more ignored.

There are three options for me. I am just going off what my friends and other people I know say about the movies and not what the general fan consensus is since I am new to the fan community.

  1. A Bug’s Life
This is the one that everyone forgets exists, but I really love this movie. It has great animation, great deep characters, good comedy, The most evil Pixar villain ever, and an awesome setting. Sadly most of my friends confuse it with Antz and call it a DreamWorks movie.

  2. WALL-E
I love this movie; it is my number 1 favorite movie of all time. Most of my friends, hate this movie. They all decry it as being “Boring” and “Preachy”. So although it looks to be much more appreciated in the general world, among the people I know personally it is very underrated

  3. Cars
This is a tough one for me because I do think it is by far the weakest of the Pixar films. However I think it has become unfairly hated in general. People like to hate on one Pixar film as “WORST THEN ANYTHING ELSE!” and they fail to realize that even though Cars (In my opinion) is not up to par of the rest of Pixar, it is still a great animated film that is better then most of the lame animated films that come out.

2. WALL-E
I love this movie; it is my number 1 favorite movie of all time. Most of my friends, hate this movie. They all decry it as being “Boring” and “Preachy”. So although it looks to be much more appreciated in the general world, among the people I know personally it is very underrated

I’m in agreement. Whilst I went for ABL, this one is also my favourite, and amongst a lot of people I know it gets berated aswell. Imo WALL-E is a film that you need to pay attention to, otherwise 50% of the story goes right over your head. Also, I think people automatically believe it’s about pollution and obesity, and maybe that is a way of seeing it, but as a film it has morals and messages far, far deeper than that, and the range of perceptions you can have of this film is why, I think, it’s held in such high regard amongst critics.
All my friends like Finding Nemo the most.

Same here. :unamused: Anyway, good answers, Garak of Cardassia!! Welcome to the forums!!

I don’t know if it’s necessarily “underappreciated” as there are a lot of people who absolutely love the film, but I don’t think WALL-E deserves anything less than admiration from anyone. And it enrages me whenever I see someone call it “boring”.

I totally agree with that. i can’t even say Wall-E in school without hearing 50 rants. I mean, I know, teenagers are immature. But that’s no reason to have bad taste.

I still can’t believe this, when I went to high school most people liked WALL-E, a girl even brought it to class for us to watch on movie day!

Well, people here don’t have…taste. 8D

Well all pixar films are loved in their time. But i’d say most under-appreciated is probly bug’s life or relatively it would be wall-e because its newer and is still not as appreciated as other pixar films. I mean Bugs life was popular right when it came out but Wall-E can’t ven be accredited with that

Hello, thewhitefrozone !! Nica answer. And I like your username. 8D

Virginia! I hear rants all the time too. It’s seriously not normal. There’s this one girl who got into one of those fake fights, where you’re laughing and stuff, but you’re really serious at the same time. She said her dad had to leave the theater he was so bored. Gosh darn it. Teenagers really don’t have taste!

I agree. Especially in the South. :unamused:

I’ve never talked to anyone who did not like Wall-e, but that’s probably just because I don’t talk to that sort of people. Me and one of my cousins obsessed over it for a while, and we watched it like 8 times in Science class one year (it was my science teachers favorite movie) and I didn’t hear a single bad thing about it.

Yeah I mean one day we all got bored and watched it on encore And loved it. I was close to crying when I thought wall-e was dead

There is no bad Pixar film, yes, Cars and A Bug’s Life were weaker films but they weren’t bad films, so I didn’t any are heavily trashed, and from the reason I can see why many people didn’t like Cars, I actually agree with them, and my general hierarchy of the Pixar films is with that of justified reason.

Oh yeah, and on the lines of Wall-E, my opinions have differed greatly for this film, the first time I saw it I saw it in the cinema and I thought it was fairly overrated and boring, but the second time I loved it, yeah, it was a bit kind of annoying still how much they over exaggerated the whole global warming issue, but still, it was a nice film, and I loved the relationship between Wall-E and EVE, it’s probably in my top five Pixar films now, along with the Toy Story films, Up and Finding Nemo.
